Yes I know right, her hallucinating her dead friend was totally unneeded if they are not going to even give closure…
You're totally right. After I saw that, it got super weird. I have two episodes left and, this may sound ridiculous, but I've been consciously avoiding the show for the past 2-3 days. I felt like it quite literally turned into a psychological thriller after that, and they honestly shouldn't have done that, because those storylines are huge, require a lot of time to be invested in it, and usually serve as major plot points that are introduced early on, not at the end of the story. This seems like something done for shock value, to push the ml and fl closer. Needless to say, absolutely bonkers, and serves no real purpose. It just scared the hell out of me.

This was, in a all honesty, a journey. I've never been the type to analyse a bl, it's plot and its characters, in a comment section. I'd always come straight here to see what's new! It's been a fun ride, and I must say, like in my first comment, almost 2 months ago, the Korean bl industry has taken a step in the right direction with this show. Of course, it's set in a very common space, and the storyline is pretty typical, but this show stole the limelight with its character development, mature love triangle (even those who hate triangles in general were so invested), and gave us a very good opportunity to discuss various ways in which these characters could end up. I'm not going to lie, I'll be missing this show a bit, considering I'd been waiting for Tuesdays and Thursdays for eight weeks.

Although a few portions required some attention, like what happened after Shin Woo's confession, which wasn't given a well-rounded ending in itself, I'd say this bl is still very much up there. From it's conversations to it's characters, everything was near rock solid! Also, I'm glad Da On took the time to figure himself out (I'd been saying this for weeks!). Namgoong and So Hee didn't have a definitive ending, so that's that. Meanwhile, Shin Woo and Tae Kyung, well, need I say more? It was wonderful how Tae Kyung ended the story, with it being all about their group sharing memories, and how it was a fresh start not only for him and Shin Woo, but their entire friend group.

On another note, I hope they give us a special episode or a second season for Mr. Seo and the guy he met during the last few minutes. Might make for yet another amazing story!

Anywho, this is a solid 8.5 in my books! I'm really glad I've stuck on till the end, and had great conversations with everyone on MDL.

PS. For the final time, Namgoong will forever be an amazing, wonderful guy!✌️✌️

I'm glad someone brought up the dead friend issue. Geez. What was that? Totally unexpected and not needed at all. I think they were trying to go for some last minute problem that needed to be resolved by the male lead. I've literally just finished watching that scene, and I'm slightly creeped out. Either they couldn't afford to keep working actress playing Cheng Yin or they just didn't want to invest in that storyline. I still feel they should have made it less creepy; maybe explained her absence away on going abroad for further studies. Gosh, it's sort of unsettling, and I'm still a bit disturbed. To spring something like that on the viewer after all the main points of conflict have been resolved, and after the story's back to fluff mode is a bit intense.

Evan Lin's amazing in this, but this show definitely could've been better.

This show is so hilarious and campy, I seriously couldn't stop watching regardless. My brain gave out after the first episode, and me and my dumb self continued on with a stupid smile. I'm being honest here.

Btw, the only normal person in this show is Iyo Canlas 😂. I have no idea how this man jumped from this show to Stuck on You.

The plot holes are endless. Like, does Vee have some demon premonition powers that he predicted all this was going to happen to him? Wasn't this family initially nice to him?

Sometimes I'd be reading a good book, and I'd suddenly remember this show. I would then try to uselessly understand and explain to myself why shit went down the way it did, and then I'd tell myself "wait, why am I even doing this? What exactly am I doing?". This show is like that thing that pops up in your mind when you should be thinking of something more important.

Nonetheless. Great fun. Leave your brain out the door for a few hours for good measure.

I agree, that none of the characters know what they want. They're teenagers. I didn't know either. And most of…
I actually don't view them as teenagers, but as individuals capable of making conscious decisions, and I totally agree that teenagers are humans capable of being mature in that way. But, I think what I truly meant was instead not knowing what they 'need' at that moment. Everyone acts on their wants in this show. But do their actions truly reflect an answer to their needs? I apologise for being a bit philosophical here, but this really reminds me of what I said about Da On. Da On is a wonderful guy, don't get me wrong. There were so many moments when he should've broken down, but he kept his cool. Besides, let's keep in mind that he's in a situation that's very new to him. He's confused. And what that confusion needs is proper self-reflection. Him asking Tae Kyung if he can like him is what he wants at the moment, but what he truly needs is to understand himself, rather than push himself further into uncharted territory before he gets totally lost.

Shin Woo is the opposite. He has already gone through that stage of understanding himself. But he has so much to work on with regards to opening up. He wants to give Tae Kyung space and time, but what he really needs is Tae Kyung's confirmation on reciprocating his feelings.

At this rate, I'm pretty sure that this show will end up like that one parody a user posted a few days back. lol. But on a more serious note, there's a lot of ground left to cover in the show, and I hope they give it sufficient time. Rushed endings curse most good bls. I hope this isn't plagued by that. Getting a one hour long last episode might be a bit of a stretch at this point, so I'm not sure how they'll be able to resolve everything in 30 minutes, unless they decide to wrap it up right at the beginning of the episode.

At this point, we're all divided with the 'Shin Woo or Da On' debate, but to be honest, although I'm not on any side, I hope Da On gives himself enough time for self-introspection than jump into a relationship with someone. I remember Da On telling Shin Woo that he wasn't comfortable with Tae Kyung yet. Sure, he can like someone, but he hasn't completely figured himself out. Liking someone to a certain extent requires a bit of commitment. To understand someone else while you can't understand yourself results in an emotional quandary which will be difficult to overcome.

I also wished that this episode could've put an end to all the dilly-dallying. This show has given us a very good triangle, but this was episode 15, and we're still stuck with the triangle. Shin Woo's given plenty of hints, but Tae Kyung really needs to be open with him. His conversation with Da On conveyed the fact that he wanted to give Shin Woo a chance, but in actuality, it's of prime importance to convey that fact to Shin Woo in the first place, if he's set on him that is. That would've given the last episode some breathing space.

To be honest, none of these characters know what they actually want. Tae Kyung knows Da On's nature, but has he truly moved on? Who knows. He's aware that Shin Woo likes him very much. But does he truly like him? Who knows. Like a user before me stated, Tae Kyung is truly a big question mark. We've spoken a lot about Shin Woo and Da On, but what about Tae Kyung? The man is an enigma. I've been watching this for 8 weeks, and in these many weeks, I've noticed that Tae Kyung is more like a channel to understand the other two in the triangle. However he himself remains a mystery. His stilted nature, need to voluntarily have no friends, and his sharp tongue are a result of something we do not know of. Maybe that's a story for another day.

And Shi Woon. He's still super incredible. But him and So Hee? Well. Need I say more?

I'm still enjoying this show for what it is, but I hope they give us a really good ending, and not something that looks like it had some patchwork done on it because of time constraints.

I have to say, I'm really liking this show so far! It's managed to keep me on the edge of my seat, and I'm really trying not to spoil myself on who the killer might be.

On another note, that private investigator missed the chance to gain more money lol. He didn't really tell Pete that the other deal was still on. He could've grabbed that extra cash after getting that 1 million from Yi. Just saying 🤷🏻.

Nonetheless, thoroughly enjoying this show!

Well, that was excruciating. The hospital scene at the beginning... yikes! Although I want to know more about…
Geez. I agree with you on the shaking and crying in the hospital. The man got shot a few days ago for god's sake. This happens everytime. Sun's seriously injured, and then Sky violently shakes him like he's a maraca.

And I a hundred percent agree with you on Gun needing to improve on every front emotionally. If this is not his strong point, he should seriously consider relearning how to emote. Boat has been pretty consistent, and I do understand that it suddenly felt like he seemed uninterested in what was going on. Gun isn't really on par with Boat here. Yet. I still have some hope for this kid. But you can't always learn on the job when it comes to something as serious as emoting well. It takes time. Dude needs to be thoroughly coached if he wants to expand his horizons, and, like I've said before, I mean well.

And boy oh boy, did they do Bank and Pitch dirty; I say it's bad time management. And it's true! They didn't even show them 'officially' becoming boyfriends. It seemed a little disjointed. Because we last saw them fighting together, and now we see them being proper boyfriends. They didn't care to show us what happened in between.

Anyway, it would've been great with a better script. More so, it would've been good enough had the existing material been acted out well.

I have to say, this ending was quite lacklustre. Not that I was expecting it to end with a bang or with something extraordinary, because of the way the writing was, but I was expecting them to atleast keep the main couple interesting enough. It totally fell apart in the end. And although some might find this a touchy subject, Gun should really find a way to improve. I was hoping he'd somehow pull through for the last episode. While Boat was committed to his character to a certain extent (it seemed like when his character underwent a transition to be more romantic, he couldn't adapt that well; nonetheless, I still hold that he was pretty consistent), Gun still couldn't get the hang of how to emote well. To be honest, that played a part (for me atleast) in how the main couple immediately lost their traction.

Years had gone by in the show. Hm. But do I see it? Not really. Visible changes are just as important as the changes we see in the characters. It really looked like time had stopped after Sky left, which oddly made it a tiny bit monotonous. This is also where it became rather rushed, leaving us with little to no time to catch up with the favourites. Bank and Pitch had a lot going for them. It wouldn't have hurt to allot atleast 15 minutes of run time to catch up with them, or even the other side characters. I liked this show, but I really wished they equally distributed time towards the end, and made better use of it throughout. It seemed like the writers no longer knew what to do once the main conflict was over, and they struggled to convincingly present the romance between the main couple.

The scene on the raft was shot well, but again....there was a lot missing. Good chemistry especially.

It was a pretty okay show overall, it is what it is. I hope they focus on a Bank-Pitch storyline next time around. They really robbed them of their time, because their relationship was building up quite well.

P.S This is not me bashing him in anyway, but Gun really needs to take a sabbatical or something to work on how to portray the emotions his character demands. He particularly needs to focus on how to match his emotions with his actions. That scene in the hospital is a prime example. I initially thought he was laughing while reading a magazine or a joke book, when he was in fact crying while reading Sun's diary. His posture, plus the actions that followed, didn't exactly align with the sentiments that had to be shown then. Anywho, I hope he gets better, because there's a huge scope for improvement!

Simply well said. I was crying with excitement. This is one the shows that gets easily swept away from the major…
Totally agree with you! The way everyone has grown in this is simply wonderful! And like I've said before, they're no longer pretty faces. This show, despite being a drama, with limited time, has shaped them up to be real people with flaws and scars. I think this is one the best ways I've seen a 16 episode format being used. And I fully agree with you on Tae Kyung's rejection leading to Da On's emotional growth. It's his first time dealing with something like this, which requires him to tackle raw emotions. Considering his nature, it's something he has to work on to overcome.

I have to say it again. This show cannot stop defying my expectations! To be honest, this is a prime example of wonderful character development. It didn't need an extra episode for it. It didn't have to take time out. It used each of the 24-30 minutes allotted to masterfully weave the development into the story. And yes, the love triangle. I can't believe I'm saying this, but this triangle is the best one I've seen so far. Every conversation is so mature. It takes cognizance of the fact that even though Da On and Shin Woo like Tae Kyung, that doesn't mean that they can't have meaningful, serious discussions as friends. Yes, they're going through a hiccup, but they're handling it so well. It's unlike the love triangles I've seen before, where the person who was once your friend is now your everlasting enemy.

Also, Team Shin Woo scores a major win today! Woot woot!

That scene in the end was not just really well-done, it was so controlled, and executed amazingly. The confession was already implicit in the actions and the text messages made Tae Kyung realize things quicker. None of the characters went around in circles, wasting time on figuring out what was going on. The last scene of ep 13 particularly brought out a major difference between Shin Woo and Da On. Shin Woo has already gone through a period of self-reflection and has already figured out where his feelings lie. However, he's introverted by nature, and as time goes by, and his feelings for Tae Kyung grow, he realises the need to come out of his shell, and eventually becomes more honest, genuine and open. Da On on the other hand, is just at the beginning of realising who he really is and where his heart truly lies. So, figuring himself out first, as well as clearing the air and being more honest with the people he cared for become his priority, more than pursuing a relationship actually. I'm so glad Da On's figured out how to prioritise his feelings this ep, and how his reactions affect the people he cared about.

I also see a possible redemption arc for So Hee. Just hoping they don't pair her up with Namgung, because, I mean, come on. We all know.

And for the umpteenth time, I say again, Namgung is the best. Simply wonderful.

the way the masturbation scene is edited is triggering my ptsd lmao god TTs2 was a nightmare fo embarrassing proportions.…
Oh my god, you are spot on about what was going on in Why R U. My thoughts exactly! I was literally like "Right. So y'all have been doing this for almost two episodes, but what about the rest of the plot? And the rest of the people?!". Straight up abandoned them for a while. And yeah, ever since I've begun watching bls, I've been constantly talking about this lack of communication. Physical intimacy definitely plays a part, but conversation gives everything a degree of gravity. I totally understand your issues with Why R U from this perspective.

Also with TharnType, not only was the intimacy built on very very problematic grounds, the script is totally bull. Yes, it's popular because a lot of people call it their first bl. But I really think everyone needs to take a second look at this show. My friends suggested it to me on the grounds that it was good (they watched it ages ago, so they probably couldn't remember or understand how sickening some of it was), but as soon as I watched it, and recanted what happened to them, they told me they didn't know it was this bad. I mean, having a homophobic guy as a roommate (who was sexually abused when young - leading to the homophobia) is a problem. Yes. But then molesting (god help me; I gave up then) him to "teach him a lesson" only went on to reinforce that homophobia. In what world is any of this okay? I continued to watch it just because. I literally had to drop it for a while, and then pick it back up again.

It's ridiculous what Type (a married man at that) does to Fiat at the end of TTs2. And for Leo to play along with it. I've literally wiped their slate clean in my brain and I'm watching this show like it's something new. I sincerely hope they don't end up going the 'assault, kidnap, cheat, beat up' route with this one, because this starts off with a relationship and that's kinda rare to be honest. Anyway. I really apologize for the rant! But I really had to get this off my head about Tharntype.

But yeah, I don't see this MAME person stopping anytime soon😂.

Oh my god same. I can't stress on how important communication is. 90 percent (and that's sorta low imo) of the plot in a typical thai bl is driven by a bunch of misunderstandings due to a lack of communication. These two could've easily discussed why they were feeling awkward and what not, considering they were once friends. But I guess they really want to emphasize on how different their relationship is now. It still doesn't really excuse the lack of communication though.

the way the masturbation scene is edited is triggering my ptsd lmao god TTs2 was a nightmare fo embarrassing proportions.…
Damn. You're right. I'm a bit of a clean freak, so what triggered me even more was that the guy literally did his business and just scurried off without cleaning up after himself. His poor boyfriend will have a nightmarish time cleaning his sheets. lol. Plus, they set the whole thing up like it was a race against time or something. Of course, a bunch of shows and movies have such scenes. But they often have a lot of emotional background to them (I mean, that's why they make it into the final cut). However, I have to admit, this came out of nowhere. It's not only the way it was edited, it was set up in a very iffy manner. I get it's probably supposed to convey his longing, but there's something really missing.

Thai bls try to be more 'physical' in approach, and they really downplay communication, which is what I hate the most. And even if they do take the physical route to building a relationship, it's often built on shoddy grounds and ends up looking like fan service.

Since this is from the same person who wrote TharnType, I'm guessing they'll throw in some ridiculous problem to overcome whatever they're going through. I haven't even bothered to watch TTs2, because the first one gave me a massive headache. I'm sure a lot of people liked it, but it just wasn't for me, and I'm sure it wasn't for a lot of people.

I haven't seen anything majorly problematic either (except for a few issues regarding privacy infringement; but which thai show is without that?). And I agree with the person who commented earlier. This is definitely amounting to be some sort of train wreck.
On Monthly Magazine Home Aug 6, 2021
I understand why people are so disappointed with the ending. Breaking up twice? I did not expect that. And in the last episode for god's sake. The writer may have wanted to throw a spanner in the works to show that Young Won could do what she always wanted to do - building a house, without Ja Sung and with no help at all. But could she not have considered the possibility that Young Won could have still done that with someone by her side? If she had the resolve and will to do it independently, she could very well have done it with Ja Sung's moral support. Support doesn't always have to be monetary. And the penultimate episode did show us that. I mean, the guy was ready to emotionally support her so that she could achieve her dream, but this was not very necessary.

Sure, maybe they wanted to give us a more realistic ending. But with the way things were going in episode 15, all conflicts should have been done and dusted. This was redundant, and it only went on to show that Young Won disappeared on Ja Sung just like her father did. Don't get me wrong, I really like this show and it has made me laugh a million times. On that, they've delivered. But they totally fudged up the romance between the main leads. What lacked here is communication. To be honest, the leads never really had a long, meaningful conversation and that carried forward later on. Misunderstandings cropped up and then we get a breakup. Twice.

I applaud them for being consistent with the comedy, but the writing as a whole showed no coherence. Towards the end, the plot began to move forward just because of a bunch of coincidences, which more often than not shouldn't be the case. It would've been better if the whole plot with her father had no correlation to Ja Sung, and that she realised that she can pursue her dreams with someone by her side. You can still be independent and work towards your goals with those you love giving you the support you need. But hey, that's just my opinion.

Anywho, I think I'd finally give this a rating of 7.9, just like mdl's. It gave me some solid laughs, and was strong in the beginning till the middle. It dropped, and that's where it loses a few points. However, I'll keep my eye out for some good dramas with Jung So Min and Kim Ji Suk in them. For what it's worth, they played their characters quite well.

Exactly. I write plays, so I came to understand that even if the storyline is great, the dialogues are a bit janky, and what gives it that extra push is how it's acted out. That is such an important element, and they really lacked in those terms.

I do agree with you on the moat scene. It was beautifully shot, but like you said, it all becomes rather insignificant and outweighs the good when the editing, the acting and the dialogues are sloppy.

Oh geez. This. This was so stupid. The pool was so shallow he could've stood up and said 'hey bro, I ain't drowning no more'. I don't mean to bash the show. A lot of effort has been put into this, considering the pandemic, but I really nitpick, so I couldn't help it. I actually tried to reason with myself how he could possibly die in a shallow pool.

What I also seriously couldn't understand was why no one called the ambulance asap when Sun was about to die. TWICE. Yes, we get it. It's for dramatic effect. But when you see Gun crying for around two minutes over Boat's almost lifeless body, it just... doesn't work.
