Am I the only one who preferred the parents' backstories? Episodes 1-7 really bored me to tears (except for the scenes with Frank) since it was moving soooo slowly. But I'm glad that I held on to the end though

Disappointing and rushed endings are the common theme of 2022 K-dramas...

Many people couldn't look past her baby face, her so-called immaturity, her aegyo (due to cultural differences most likely), and the times when she wore her high school uniform. If only they could just read between the lines and give credit to her ability to maintain a bright and cheerful personality despite her traumatic childhood (which is a brilliant showcase of her maturity), their relationship dynamic would be much easier to understand. One is innocent but mature, the other is mature but innocent.
Besides, I never really cared about their age gap since it was a meeting of two traumatized souls... until I read the discussions. Even if she was a university student, people would still complain (eg. My Roommate is a Gumiho). If she was an adult, the story wouldn't make sense since she was bound to blow out fire/candles at some earlier point in her life along with meeting a grim reaper at x9 years old. Their relationship was a turn-off for many, hence why the drama is not fully appreciated, which is fine but it's kinda sad that the ratings have dropped (from 9.0 a few years ago to 8.8 now).

Yeah, the ML did not manipulate her due to her young age in the first place. He thought the bride would just pull out the sword + his life would have ended without further development (romantically speaking) in their relationship in the beginning. Hence I don't think there was grooming/pedophilia involved... it's strange that so many people think that way. Honestly, I am okay with age gap relationships in media as long as it is portrayed as a healthy/innocent one with mutual consent and no manipulation involved.
Btw your point on Asian vs western women is correct hahaha you're right, Asian girls/women are generally more cutesy than westerners somehow but I guess that was more of a cultural difference thing when so many ppl were put off by her "immature" behavior while my friends and I (Asian) found it cute hahaha

Agreed. Their relationship is fine since they're both adults + there were no disturbing scenes. Then there are those saying that ET behaved like a 12 y/o just because she's cheerful and energetic (which does not mean that she's immature). She is really strong while having gone through so much pain in her life while suffering from abuse from her aunt. Besides, it's fantasy anyway so what's up with all the extremist comments below on "pedophilia" and "grooming"?? It's not like they had a sexual relationship at that period of time anyway.

Same in Reddit as well. The ones who like it are making assumptions and dissing others because of different opinions. I'm not asking for genius female leads in this drama, I just want to see how the plot plays out like how would the sisters solve their respective problems? What would they do after XXX event happened? But right now I am just so confused and irritated at the sisters. Just hoping that everything will improve as the plot progresses.
