Ling He has been receiving more and more hate recently on other platforms due to his popularity (such as the Weibo topic from yesterday saying that he was lip-syncing at the concert). I called out a Reddit post for trying to call on others to hate on the same popular actors (i.e., ZLH as usual) but got myself permanently banned lol. I can definitely see every other fandom ganging up just to bring him down. He has a lot of fans, but I don't think we are as organized (or as argumentative) as other fandoms since his fans are relatively newer, compared to YY/XZ/WYB

Haha agreed. The FL's personality is similar to someone I know. Very closed-off, muted, not much consideration when it comes to sharing or updating news, a bit cold, but somehow quite emotional etc. I got so irritated at some scenes like wtf why is she stuck in her own world

I might be insane, but I don't think Xie Wei is as bad as people make him out to be. I think his actions make sense and he's not that much of a red flag. His character is just very layered, and it's interesting to watch. He's not a bad man - he's just a cunning and intelligent person who makes do with what he has.

With that being said, I don't like how he's constantly putting himself in danger for the FL when she just doesn't do much (taking care of him while he's injured is not something to shout about since she doesn't protect him in the way that she protects Zhang Zhe). Their relationship is so imbalanced and disappointing. Then again I'm only at ep 35, and I hope it gets better because why do writers like to make their FLs so uncaring towards the ML who is always suffering.

Yeah he started off pretty well in Maiden Holmes, and since then his acting has improved steadily. The criticisms to his acting are from people who expect a lot more, people who dislike him (some are jealous of his popularity, and of different fandoms), and people who have different opinions (since not everyone can agree on what is considered as "good acting").
But I do think he needs to take on harder projects and challenge himself more. He has potential but he needs difficult roles.

curious to know your thoughts after watching him! I personally think he's good, he acts with his eyes more and his acting in Our Generation (particularly in the last couple of episodes) is great~

I have been following this page and reading every comment here over the past 2 weeks (especially over the past 3 days), fully expecting to dislike this drama... but I actually like it! HAHAHA it reminds me of TVB dramas, which I used to watch when I was younger

This is a great show so far. I enjoy how complex each character is! Especially the FL, ML, and even 2ML!! I'm super glad that I wasn't turned off by the comments here :DD

ikr I think he is pretty good too!!! There are many Reddit posts talking about overrated actors and him in general and a lot of the comments are just bashing his acting like wtf

I'm currently watching The Princess Royal and he's good there as well so I'm confused ><

same here, I thought the first few episodes were pretty cringe but the HK plot is very solid

tbh I dont get why ppl (Reddit especially) hate ZLH's acting cos I think he was pretty good here - he did not exaggerate and he acted very naturally in this drama

Omg yes I can't stand the FL too, and I think Bona's acting made whatever flaws the FL has 10 times worse with her wide-eyed fish acting style

Am I the only one who preferred the parents' backstories? Episodes 1-7 really bored me to tears (except for the scenes with Frank) since it was moving soooo slowly. But I'm glad that I held on to the end though

Disappointing and rushed endings are the common theme of 2022 K-dramas...

Many people couldn't look past her baby face, her so-called immaturity, her aegyo (due to cultural differences most likely), and the times when she wore her high school uniform. If only they could just read between the lines and give credit to her ability to maintain a bright and cheerful personality despite her traumatic childhood (which is a brilliant showcase of her maturity), their relationship dynamic would be much easier to understand. One is innocent but mature, the other is mature but innocent.
Besides, I never really cared about their age gap since it was a meeting of two traumatized souls... until I read the discussions. Even if she was a university student, people would still complain (eg. My Roommate is a Gumiho). If she was an adult, the story wouldn't make sense since she was bound to blow out fire/candles at some earlier point in her life along with meeting a grim reaper at x9 years old. Their relationship was a turn-off for many, hence why the drama is not fully appreciated, which is fine but it's kinda sad that the ratings have dropped (from 9.0 a few years ago to 8.8 now).
