Wow! What a strange yet gorgeous movie this is! You definitely have to be in the mood for it. This is no lovey-dovey romcom. First, I just wanted to take a sneak peak into it, but then it got me glued to my screen for its entire two-hour runtime! It’s a movie you have to pay attention to, nothing that can be consumed while playing around with your phone (unless you’re a smaho zombie, www). The cinematography and the visuals are amazing. And all of the four kids are acting brilliantly.
There is an English subbed version at Dramacool, but you better avoid it because the subs are rubbish! To me they seem like a Google auto-translation from Japanese to Chinese to English or something like that. Many sentences make no sense at all, and almost every name is misspelt, respectively the Romanization of names written in Kanji is according to Chinese pronunciation, not Japanese, for example the little girl's name Kokoro-chan (心ちゃん) becomes "XinXin" in the subtitles...
That's why I love Japanese series so much more than Hollywood series: 1 season, 8 episodes, each episode 30 minutes long – that makes 4 hours and the story is told! No unnecessary seasons two, three and four with a story that's going nowhere and an open end because the series was cancelled after season five...
I enjoyed the first half of the drama the most despite the wacky 1st episode. The first half of the show was funny,…
I totally agree. I would have liked to follow the three main characters struggling in becoming a family, but instead there was a time skip and then a totally different storyline. I cried while watching ep. 6 during its unexpected climax (no spoiler here!), and it could have ended there, but Ep. 7 to 10 were totally useless. :-(
