If this drama don't have suzy, i doubt it will get this much attention. It's not because this drama is bad. The…
Kind of agree that without a huge star, most people would ignore this show, but I'm pretty sure that's why they wanted Suzy for the role. But looking at the comments, I don't think their plan worked, because mainstream audience used to Marvel movies where everything is spelled out loud and more than twice.🤣
some of the commenters on this site really need to stop hiding behind this “kdrama fans are toxic and dumb.”…
The pot calling the kettle black? 😅 I don't think anyone here has a problem with FAIR CRITICISM! But, saying: "Doona is toxic and a walking red flag" is not criticism, it literally means that the viewer is dumb! Also, most "negative" comments are based on the fact that they didn't understand the show at all. I'm FAR from any typical Kpop or KDrama fans, I'm really strict when it comes to criticizing something even if my favorite actor is in it! I love Suzy, but she's not my favorite actor! If you pay attention to little things on this show, and you try to understand the main part of it, and that's not the romance btw, then you're going to watch a totally different show! This show is basically about the toxicity around celebs! The comment section proves the whole point of the show!
Also, most Kdrama and Kpop fans ARE TOXIC AF, like it or not! How many Idol or actor died because of hate comments? So, stop being ignorant! Being a blindfolded fan is bad too, but not as bad as being toxic!
Exactly! That's why I said many times that people need to watch every intro since EP1! Also, Su Jin's reaction says it all. I could even say, it's everyone's reaction when they pay attention to every detail because that's how you feel at the end of the finale if you understand everything. The whole show is an easter egg hunt, basically.🤣
ppl dont realise that doona is toxic and go nuts for her and as usual MC is one stupid dude. TOXIC FL + ML= DISASTROUS…
You're the prime example when a viewer doesn't understand what they saw. Doona is not toxic at all. If you can't understand why, you're part of the problem!
BTW it is a happy ending, you just have to use your brain!😅
I don't know much about the webtoon, I know he's with another girl I think, so in that way the show is totally different. Also, didn't watch the anime either. So, in this show, if you skip the intros and the outros, you're going to miss a LOT of clues where they are in the finale. If you watch their clothes in the finale, you can see that he's wearing the same jacket and suit when they're together in a train station or on a meadow with a lot of pink flower or whatever those are. 😅 So the ending is pretty much means they are in a secret relationship because we have only seen them together (in the finale) where nobody else was there. Also, there was an official poster for the show with the same meadow where they were kissing, but that scene wasn't included on the show.
Trust me, if you like realistic drama with good story and characters, you're going to like this show. I really like when they don't spell out everything and the viewer has to think about things. One of my favorite part of the directing is that you only understand time jumps, for example, if you pay attention to details because they don't say when it happens and how many month or years are passed.
I personally would call this open ended. Apparently most people want an escape from reality with a fairy tale…
I mean, we can call it open-ended because they didn't spell out anything, just showed the most important parts, so you have to think about it a bit and maybe understand more what toxicity can do to other people. Also, I get people want an escape from reality, I want that too sometimes, but I just LOVE shows and movies like this, when there's no cheesy romance, Disney fairy tale, just simple people and their simple life. If we can call an Idol “simple”. 😅 To be honest, I always say that, just because someone is famous or rich, doesn't mean they're different from me, so yeah, I call them “simple people” like me, even tho their lifestyle isn't simple. If everyone would do this, toxicity would be extinct.
Jesus, it's so funny reading the negative comments and reviews. This is why this drama is a great representation. People are lazy, don't pay attention to little things, and only care about the surface. And they blame the writers because they didn't spell out everything for them.🤣 You can see that most KDrama fans are so used to the typical happy endings and basic stuff. Also, congrats for proving how toxic fans can be. That's kind of the whole message of the show.
P.S.: If you don't like the show because you didn't understand the ending, it's not the writer's fault. PAY ATTENTION to the details, like their clothes, and DON'T SKIP THE INTROS AND OUTROS! If you don't skip any of them, you're going to get a MUCH BETTER experience.
If people don't pay attention, won't understand too much about this show. If you pay attention, you're going to love the show, especially if you love REALISTIC drama. This show was refreshing for sure.
I hope it's going to be more than 9 episodes because it's really short. There has to be a Part 2 someday because I don't think 9 episodes is enough to adapt the whole story well enough.
I wouldn't say Flower of Evil is a masterpiece, but it's certain that one of the best drama, and I watched hundreds of crime shows and movies. BTW I agree on the finale. I hated that typical lazy writing with the cliché part that you mentioned. That's why I only rated 9/10 because that's what I hate the most, it was totally unnecessary. But other than that, it was a great show. But I still think it's not a real crime show, it's more like a family drama and in that, it's one of the best.
I don't think the person who made this list understand that overrated and overhyped is not the same thing. First: on MDL most people love to give 9 or 10 points for everything, especially if one of the actor on the show is their favorite, cute, sexy etc. So you can't say these shows are overrated because people don't overrate them because they think it's that good, they doing it, because most people don't know how to rate something. Second: Overhyped isn't equal with overrated. Overhyped, means you can hear about them everywhere. 90% of this list isn't like that at all.
That's why I hate lists like this. People think just because they don't like something is overrated or overhyped. Also, they think, just because they love a show it's perfect, masterpiece etc. Everyone have a different taste, so the ratings means nothing, especially because 90% of the users doesn't write any review about the shows they watched, so you can't understand why they rated them 10/10 for example.
Obviously, I didn't watch every Kdrama on this list, but the only overhyped show here is probably 'Squid Game', but even that I can understand why it's overhyped. It's like Game of Thrones. It's not the best show on Earth, but probably one of the best.
I don't think it's fair to compare this to A Business Proposal because ABP was a genre parody basically. I agree about what you said, but for me, it was refreshing tbh, because I'm fed up with the same story with the poor girl dating a billionaire guy. They're usually stretching this type of story for until the finale. I hate when they do that, maybe that's I liked this version more, because it felt more real or new. It was a typical feelgood, slice of life show basically where nothing big happens, and I'm a sucker for that tbh. I don't like the overdramatized stories for just the sake of it. But one thing's for sure, there wasn't any proper conflicts, could've been with the sister, but they ignored that too.
a female lead I can think of similar to Seryung is Cha Ji Won from Flower of Evil and its interesting Moon Chae…
I know everything about the real history of the story. Most of it is true and a lot of it just fantasy, basically. That wasn't my point, btw. Me not liking the finale has nothing to do with the real history. I don't care if a show has a happy ending or a sad ending. All I want is a consistent writing and the fact is that they rushed the finale. The ending wasn't build up, it ended like in a heartbeat, and I hate when writers do that. Also, the daughter is still a mystery, so everything that happened to her and her lover is a FICTION! And THAT'S why I said they could've done a much better finale. Sure, they can't kill off the King (tbh I would do that because why not? This is a KDrama not a documentary) I can understand that, but we don't know much about Seung Yoo and Se Ryung and their REAL relationship and how it ended.
Honestly, IF they would've built up the ending 2 or 3 episodes before the finale, I wouldn't have any problem with the show.
WOW! Finally, watched a KDrama that isn't depressing as hell and the ending wasn't ruined. I can't believe it first, but in the penultimate episode they got me for a sec with THAT ending.🤣 That's rarely happening to me after watching more than 500 TV shows and more than 2000 movies. So, props to the writers. Well done!👏 BTW, is it me or this drama is almost the same as the Business Proposal?
a female lead I can think of similar to Seryung is Cha Ji Won from Flower of Evil and its interesting Moon Chae…
I'm not saying she didn't, I loved her character too, easily one of the best written female character, especially in historical dramas. I love the show too, my only problem is the finale. I don't get it why they "always" ruining the last episode in almost every drama. It was almost perfect till the finale. Also, I agree, she didn't have anyone who helped her for a very long time. I just think Da Hee for me is more relatable, because she was a nobody basically, and that's why I think she suffered more because she didn't have any options. In the other hand, Se Ryung could just leave like she did in the last couple of episodes. That's my other problem with the show, but we could say this about basically every KDrama. If she leaves, there's no issue.😅
I'm not trying to hate the show, btw, I'm just being honest and fair. I won't give a show good ratings just because I love Moon Chae Won for example. I gave it 8/10 overall, that's a pretty good rating in my opinion. Like I said, my biggest problem with the show is that they wanted to finish everything in the last episode, like in many other KDrama, and I hate that. Also, I really don't like the ending because it doesn't make sense at all! For like 20 episodes, he wanted revenge, he was there, he could've killed the King, but he was an idiot, so he almost died and the only reason why he didn't because he was a main lead. Not to mention how much I hated when and how they killed off Jong. Also, the worst part in the finale is that the King literally became a "nice" person for just the sake of the happy end. Not to mention the fact that their friends doesn't even know that they're not dead. That was really irritating and unnecessary!

Sure, but that's "just" emotional suffering. She could've just move on and forget everything. Nobody would hurt her if she wouldn't leave her family. SPOILER FROM HERE if you didn't watch the show!!!
In Hur Jun, Da Hee was an average woman who did everything for her husband and she was tortured too because of him but still stayed with him till he died. In my eyes, her suffering is harder because she didn't have anyone except her husband, his mother, and their son.
This show is THE prime example that if you're a good writer, you can make a typical cliché story much better. My only problem with this show is that it's too short. There should be a 2nd season because like many other Kdrama the finale was a mess. Too many unfinished stories and so many were finished in 2 minute. Also, the Drama in the Drama part was my favorite, probably. That's what made the whole cliché story better, because it's not a typical romcom because they literally made fun of their own show, so it's more like a parody.
a female lead I can think of similar to Seryung is Cha Ji Won from Flower of Evil and its interesting Moon Chae…
Also, Da Hee in 'Hur Jun, The Original Story 2013'. She was even better female lead because she wasn't a Queen or a Princess, so she had to suffer way more.
Also, most Kdrama and Kpop fans ARE TOXIC AF, like it or not! How many Idol or actor died because of hate comments? So, stop being ignorant! Being a blindfolded fan is bad too, but not as bad as being toxic!
