Quality over quantity, simple as that! Also, this has nothing to do with the actors. They don't have a say in how long a show will be. Not to mention, actors like Park Eun Bin, for example, always care more about the quality. Because it's not an open ending. You can see them meeting in the finale, and they're literally dating in the intros in Japan! Standing next to each other at the ocean. Not to mention the scene in the finale when they hugged and reconciled with each other. That wasn't a hug a between friends. Also, the OFFICIAL Netflix account confirmed that it's a happy ending! What more do you want? The director was always like this, he's not the type of guy who will say it out loud, he said the same thing about Crash Landing on You too!

Also, there's another quote in the interview where he actually says: "I wanted to make the whole intro as a memory. And Doona narrating in the future remembering their past."
