A very good Kdrama that a has mix of everything. (Read Description)
I've watched tons and tons of shows, and been getting bored of very show due it lack of diversity and the cliche cinderella themed plots. This drama is completely the opposite of that. I am glad the female lead is very strong even though she has a bad backstory/past. This so is just so amazing, i loved every moment of it. It did get boring at times but for the most part it had me hiding under my covers or on my feet! It does lack in the romance but the story and acting is so good that i really dont mind it! I reccomend this to anyone to watch! The show is so good and addicting. Was this review helpful to you?

Decent Drama
I thoroughly enjoyed this drama, but I couldn’t help but wish the protagonist had remained as a female in the past. The story began with him undermining women, believing they worked less hard than men. However, after being sent to the past, he found himself managing a winery business, which challenged his initial mindset. As the episodes unfolded, his inner voice gradually transitioned from male to female voice. While the drama was addicting, it didn’t clearly show how he overcame his earlier prejudices against women. The only hint at his mindset changing seemed to be his growing love for the male lead in the past, suggesting that his feelings for him were the reason for his mindset change. The ending left me with mixed emotions. Though well-executed, I felt a sense of sadness when he ultimately returned to the future. I had hoped he would stay in the past, embracing his new identity and the life he had begun to build there. The drama was exceptional overall, but the conclusion felt bittersweet, leaving me longing for a different outcome. Was this review helpful to you?

A Girl in the Tang Dynasty Falls Short
A Girl in the Tang Dynasty had an interesting premise, but the execution completely fell flat for me and here's why:I remember being confused and bored for most of A Girl in Tang Dynasty but I kept watching just to see what the outcome would be. I skipped through a lot of the episodes because the pacing felt very slow and like the story was dragging without real development. The production quality started to feel cheaper as the show went on. I kept noticing the lace coming off of their wigs and other small details that made everything feel low budget and pulled me out of the story.
This show’s official plot is supposed to be about Hua Xiaofei, who hits rock bottom, falls into a coma, and in that unconscious state finds herself in a prosperous imperial city where she tries to build a business from scratch. In the capital she meets Xu Ziqi, a commander of the imperial guards who is secretly working to expose corruption involving the merchant guild. Together they gather evidence of bribery and monopoly and bring it to the Emperor, which leads to justice being served and eventually her marriage to Xu Ziqi and rise as a legendary female merchant by the end of the series.
But here’s the thing: **it never actually made sense on screen to me**. Right from the beginning it was never clearly explained how she died or why she was even in this other world, so I was left guessing. Or why Xu Ziqi suddenly loses his beard and makeup?? At times it *felt* like her ancestors were telling her things or like there was some kind of spiritual or time-travel element, but the show never actually said that in the beginning it really just comes from the coma situation, which I didn’t realize at first because it isn’t clearly portrayed. I honestly couldn’t tell if she was supposed to be dreaming, connected to her ancestors, or what was going on because it never committed to explaining it.
By the end she sort of randomly comes back to life and everyone survives their death then everything is wrapped up, which felt extremely convenient and unearned since the rules of the story weren’t set up well. Even though the premise is about her becoming a smart businesswoman and exposing corruption, it *never really felt like she successfully made money in a meaningful or satisfying way* the business stuff mostly just kind of happened without much real payoff or tension.
Overall, it felt like a stretched-out version of those low-budget short dramas with episodes that drag on, which is exactly the kind I usually avoid. The only reason I stayed until the end was because I liked Joey Chua (蔡卓宜) and Yan Xi's (冯仕吉) chemistry. I found their romance very entertaining to watch. Other than that, I found the series boring and confusing to watch.

Loved the show but it was lacking. I felt like it had too many fillers, etc.
I love this acting, and the plot that drove the characters together. However its just i dont like how things were left unexplained. Like how can a CEO just up and leave his job? I know its a drama but what CEO has time to waste and dilly dally all day. My main issue is with the fillers, i enjoyed watching the second leads fall in love more than the main leads as they felt more lively, and intimate then the main leads. I didn't see the chemistry between the main leads really, and their love progression seemly took a long time. I am not going to hate on the show, it was just not my cup of tea.Was this review helpful to you?
