lowkey no idea if this has been shared before but im slowly losing my patience. and when i lose my patience i dig up posts from random people from Soul Mate's filming crew lol
also, on the site from this cinematographer, it says it will be released in 2025.
I'm slow, but what exactly triggered sugiki have this lightbulb moment that he had to run to chase after shinya…
lol wait maybe i have a theory...
When sugiki asked, "let's just keep this between us, okay?", wasn't that precisely his weakness? trust in people, the love you feel for each other? sugiki, always so demanding, finally asked for something you could consider vulnerable.
"did i want to hear him portay his weakness?" suzuki thought. man... he just wanted sugiki to dominate him
At the beginning, we see Suzuki watching Sugiki on his iPad screen. He immediately notices that Sugiki lacks something essential: love. Suzuki is inspired by Sugiki.
About halfway through the movie, we’re shown a sort of flashback from Sugiki’s point of view. He watches Suzuki dancing; an amateur, still unknown. Yet people can already sense the excitement and passion in his movements.
“The story his body was telling was pure inspiration. Suddenly, I could see a way forward.”
Sugiki later invites the dance pair to compete in 10Dance, but Suzuki turns him down.
Sugiki says:
“I’ve never been first at the world championship… I wonder when they’ll finally see you, Suzuki, for who you truly are. I suppose I was wrong about you. You have the perfect style and physique, but that’s all.”
Could it be that Sugiki provoked Suzuki into dancing and competing together because he wanted Suzuki to be recognized? Was it because only then could Sugiki feel the love he was missing—only then could he continue moving forward? Wanting to be free?
Also, do you think Suzuki felt jealous when he heard what Sugiki said to Yagami Fusako? About how “every dancer would say Yagami is beautiful; I want to be her,” and so on?
