Presumably she didn’t want to post anything, seeing as she still hasn’t done so, and thought this would be an easier way to make the announcement without having to give too much information about her private life and apologize for being in a relationship! There’s absolutely no way a bunch of her famous guests posted about her wedding (and showed her non-famous husband’s face!) without her telling them that’s what she wanted. Korean celebrities attend each other’s private celebrations all the time without posting about it on Instagram.

Every time I come here to see what people are saying about the actual story I have to scroll past a bunch of stan bullshit.

The doctor’s laid-back attitude can be reassuring, but it can also come across as callous at times. From his perspective as someone who has probably seen many cancer patients die, Minjae is young, fit and cancer-free, and gets regular checkups. He’s practically in perfect health except for his missing leg, so the doctor allows himself to relax when he’s treating him. From Minjae’s perspective, however… he doesn’t have a leg! And he almost died of cancer once.

What looks like a very favorable situation to the doctor is still a life-changing disability to Minjae. I agree the doctor is sympathetic, but I can also see Minjae’s perspective.

Why do you think that? Minjae is the head of their lab working directly under the professor. That’s usually a PhD position.

I have no idea why everyone is saying this when there’s been no indication whatsoever in the preview or promotional materials that he will get cancer again and it looks like his missing leg will be the cause of more than enough external conflict/angst. The show is clearly about his disability, not cancer!

Just in general, I thought she was making it pretty obvious she was interested in him and then he brutally set her up with his lab mate without telling her. I thought that was a deliberate decision to draw a line between them, not just him being oblivious to her feelings.

Episode 2 was hysterically funny at times. The awkward blind date turning into a human zoo exhibit with the three incel engineers at first gawking at Youjin like they'd never seen a woman before and then trembling with excitement at the thought of her joining their lab while Minjae's supposedly more normal appointment turned into such an unpleasant encounter (as if the universe was punishing him for setting Youjin up) AND THEN Youjin hitting the robot prototype hard enough to break it and Minjae bursting in angrily at that exact moment... I was howling with laughter for five minutes straight, probably.

I also liked how each lead's feelings for the other went through alternating cycles of admiration and hatred (Youjin toward Minjae)/amusement and annoyance (Minjae toward Youjin), but they both ended up in the same place at the same time in the end.

On a related note, it's clear why Minjae didn't pick up what she was putting down at first; I bet he has deep-seated insecurities about his disability that are yet to be explored, which are stopping him from even considering the possibility of a romantic relationship. That's why if/when he noticed Youjin was looking at him with a sparkle in her eye, he ignored it without hesitation. (The ease with which he accepted that his friend had feelings for her colleague in episode 1 also implied he had mostly tried to ask her out so he could cross it off his bucket list, as opposed to truly wanting/expecting her to date him.) Unfortunately, the requirements Youjin's father set out for his prospective son-in-law at dinner suggest Minjae's sense of insecurity is not unfounded. I bet Youjin's family will oppose their relationship once it gets serious and it will be a source of additional hurt and trauma for him :(

But even when he was sober and able to keep Youjin's sporadic flirtations at bay, Minjae ended up helping her get into the mechanical engineering department--not because he liked her so much as because, despite being a whiny loser, he always ends up doing the right thing (albeit in the most frustrating way possible). He alone was paying close enough attention to her to realize that she was being treated unfairly, and his conscience wouldn't allow him to ignore it even though he wanted to keep his distance from her. Ugh, his characterization is so good.

I do like the engineer sidekicks and Youjin's family too. They bring some classic kdrama comic relief to a show that otherwise eschews many clichés of the genre.

Yeah, he had a signature style that was so cinematic and thoughtful and comfortable yet melancholic. And yet I think this drama may be lighter than OSN and SITR; the first episode at least had a more comedic and youthful tone (though it was still subtle and realistic). God, it's gonna be so good.

Fuckkkkkkk, Ahn Panseok was the GOAT. No one's doing it like him. The first episode had more quiet heart and bittersweet humor and psychological subtlety than the rest of the Korean TV industry could squeeze out in a year. He even harnessed Choo Youngwoo's incel lolicon energy toward a productive end. Let's enjoy the king's last gift for us, but WHO'S LEFT TO MAKE REAL ROMANCE AFTER HIM???

Yeah, I think he’s lost weight and maybe gotten the buccal fat procedure, but at least his jawline looks intact… or maybe I’m just coping? But seriously, he looked perfect in that stupid Scooby-Doo drama! Who told him to starve himself! I hope he gets back to a healthier weight soon.

Haven’t watched this drama yet because I’m waiting to find out what the ending will be, so I can’t comment on anything else. Sorry for the shallow comment, everyone!

Which I find much more compelling as a premise than the rebirth/reincarnation cheat, even if we ignore the characters' ages. I have no idea why more webnovel authors don't give their protagonists real problems they have to solve instead of catapulting them back in time to a fork-in-the-road moment so they could choose an easier path in life/yeeting them into a new body to free them from the past. This copout lowers the dramatic stakes of the plot before the story has even started.

I’m so relieved they changed the premise of the novel, in which the FL dies at fifteen and is reborn, making her 11 years younger than the ML, who used to be her fiancé in her previous life. Not only that, but this man in his mid-20s starts lusting after her “figure” when she is still 14-15 years old. And as if the pedo overtones weren’t enough, he’s an abusive blowhard who all but forces himself on her using his position as her owner (and yes, maids in ancient China were slaves).

The novel is utterly repulsive and I could find absolutely nothing romantic or redeeming about it. Changing the FL’s identity and age to make her the ML’s equal (even if her circumstances have been greatly reduced) will improve the tone of the story massively.

Shouldn’t you be getting ready for sixth grade instead of watching kdramas?
