I am thinking the bad guy behind the scenes is either the uncle or nan rui. The uncle either faked his death and sent the assassins after song yimeng so she wont interfere with uncles plans for nan heng in the future or its nan rui but the king already made him inherit crown prince…so what would his reason be ….just cause he hates nan heng cause maybe he’s emperor’s favorite ( as twisted as that may sound?) what other reason could he possibly have. I guess ensuring his position as crown prince. Lets not forget the tower scene is still going to occur but who will the one holding yimeng hostage?

On a side note…nan heng finally 😍sees that he has a chance with yimeng and she does love him but she’s just mad at him ffor now😏

I am confused…why are people mad at the FL. When she found out nan heng’s identity she ran back to warn him that they were there to arrest him…and this was right after she stormed out on him Which shows regardless of how mad she is at him, her instinct now is to protect him. Give the girl a bit to process…she literally has to recalibrate everything she knows now cause he was too scared to be honest with her and actually with the way he was going…if she’s wasnt going to put the effort to test him he would have never told her the truth

What if the emperor is indirectly building nan heng to be the emperor? To me it just doesn’t make sense for him to leave the empire to a child like man like prince 18?
Being emperor is a lonely place…so maybe he’s teaching nan heng that? He didn’t let him cut his arm….if he hated him so much he wouldn’t have stopped him.
