I love how Simu leads by example, she made a mistake by killing humans, and honorably accepted her punishment. This proves she is a worthy leader in the eyes of her fellow spirits.
Meanwhile, Yan Ke is a sadistic SOB, smiling and gloating as she receives her punishment for something he instigated; then quick to take charge when she’s hurt. I’m glad Simu countered him by putting Jiang Ai in charge.👏
The opening sequence in episode 32 is stunning! Duan Xu, a vibrant 19 year old riding off to battle, his eyes drawn to Simu through the bamboo forest, their knowing smiles, as bamboo leaves cascade down. 🍃Chef’s kiss!😘
The cinematography is this drama is on another level, it’s a visual feast!

I agree, if I watch a drama and it doesn’t appeal to me, I just drop it and move on. I would never do the entire production team the injustice of a biased rating without fully viewing.
It’s like going into a store, seeing a candy bar on the shelf and saying that sucks, without ever tasting it.🤷♀️

I’m starting to understand the depth of Yan Ke’s obsession, he tolerated Simu’s 22 past lovers, seeing them as only passing fancies. Then along comes Duan Xu, Simu’s spell bearer, and Yan Ke’s only real competition for Simu’s heart and the ultimate power he so craves. Things are about crazy!!
I think some people are forgetting this is not a traditional love story. The FL is a 400 year old, emotionless ghost, who despite having 22 past lovers has probably never truly experienced real love. Simu does not have access to first love senses like a mortal, she can’t feel a racing heart, "butterflies" (nausea/nervousness), sweaty palms, flushed skin, and become hyper-focus on the person. Her responses and reactions to Duan Xu are completely normal to her, even if we as viewers want her to give/show more.
Unfortunately, she’s experiencing her first true love with Duan Xu with one sense at a time; she doesn’t get to feel it, like you and I, with five full senses.
Whose soul candle did she turn into an artifact (bracelet)? I’m thinking it’s Bai SanXing, since Simu refused to destroy his soul candle. Hopefully, this is a part of her grand plan to take down Yan Ke, he is one evil, power hungry dude!

What I enjoy about this love story is its realistic approach. You have a 400 year old Sovereign who is devoid of emotions, hasn’t felt true happiness since her parents passed. Then you have a 19 year old promising General who is full of vigor and life.
One doesn’t know how to give their heart and truly love; the other is young, feeling invincible, ready to scream from the roof tops and declare his undying love.
Dilraba and Chen Feiyu are nailing their characters, they are the epitome of Simu and Duan Xu!👏

I’m still hoping for some more intimate scenes once they officially get married. As of episode 30 they seem to have committed themselves to each other, but there are so many external threats circling. Once it calms down I want to see the sugar between them.🤭🍬
