I love the WayuFilm short movies because they always take an idea and tell a story that matters. I enjoyed the layers that existed in Monochrome, and each cast member played a critical part in telling the story. I don't know if the broader concept of different 'colours' and learning to see the world in new ways rather than the 'usual' way was intentional, but I really liked that extra layer of depth and meaning that was available in this film. Rather than having two main characters as I had expected, the way it was portrayed honestly came across more as the main character going through an experience that, with the support and input from the people around him, allowed him to grow and find new ways to exist in his world even after everything he thought he knew changed. We didn't get to know any of the other characters quite as well. Having said that, I thought the use of the side characters in this film was excellent, as each came from a different perspective (a same-age colleague/friend, a boss, a random stranger) and each offered something that the main character needed to form his new worldview.
