A Night in the On-Call Room ~Part 1~ It’s 2 a.m. at Yulje Medical Center. Dr. Yi Young is exhausted after back-to-back surgeries.
Dr. Do Won walks in with two cups of coffee — one for himself, and one for her. They haven’t talked about their feelings yet… but tonight, something’s different. The lights are dim. The air is quiet. Their hands touch for just a second too long.
Yi Young looked up, surprised to see Do Won standing at the door. “You should be sleeping,” she whispered. “You should be too,” he said, handing her the coffee.
For a moment, neither of them said anything. Then Do Won sat down beside her. “I keep making excuses to see you. Even when I don’t need to.” She stared at the cup in her hand. “I know. I kept hoping you'd stop… or say something.” “I don’t want to stop,” he said quietly. “Not anymore.”
"Why not anymore?" Yi-Young asked. "Can't you tell I’m already in love with you?" Do-Won thought, but instead he said, "Oh, you have good hearing… how did you hear that?" "Stop messing around and answer me already," Yi-Young said.
"Because I like you, girl," he thought again — but what he actually said was, "Oh, I have a paper to review. I almost forgot. Good luck with your night shift. If you want anything to eat, just come find me, okay?" "You and your papers. Okay, saseonim… but I don’t think I’ll get hungry tonight," Yi-Young said — and suddenly kissed his cheek. She expected him to say, “What are you doing?” with an annoyed tone and cold eyes… But instead, she got— To be continued...

Yi-Young just kissed Do-Won on the cheek. She expected rejection, or at least some awkward silence…
But instead, he looked at her — eyes wide, then soft. He took a deep breath. "You're going to get your punishment, Doctor Oh," he said in a teasing voice, smirking to himself as he turned and walked away.
My cheeks went red in an instant. That’s when I heard my phone beep. “Aish, again? It’s that Eun-Myeong... what does she want now?” I muttered, then sighed and answered, “Yes, doc. I’m on my way.” If ruining moods were an Olympic sport, she’d take the gold medal. But what could I do? It was still my job. She always gave me useless tasks just to protect her own reputation. And after few more hours of work, my night shift ended.
As I was about to head home, Jae-il asked if I wanted to get a coffee. So I went with him. At the café, I ordered two iced caramel lattes — one for me, and... maybe for someone else — plus two slices of strawberry cheesecake. “I didn’t know you liked eating this much,” Jae-il said. I just smiled without answering.
Since we were heading in different directions, we split up outside the coffee shop.
I walked like a zombie along the pavement, half-asleep, until suddenly someone caught my hand — it was warm.
“Oh my god... it’s you,” I whispered, eyes sparkling. “I wished you’d come... and here you are, for real.”
“Are you trying to die like that?” he asked. That’s when I realized I had almost stepped into the road while the light was still red. His car was parked near the pedestrian crossing — he had stopped the car and rushed over to stop me. "I really want him to be my man" , I thought. "Yi-Young... come back to the real world." I warned to myself.
And then — “What if I hadn’t seen you?” he said softly mixed with bit flustered tone. I gave him a guilty smile and showed him what I had bought. He tried to hold in a smile, but it didn’t work — it broke into a full one. And then... HE GRABBED MY HAND. Like, really grabbed it. My heart was about to explode. It felt like a volcano in my chest — but in the happiest way possible. Butterflies were everywhere.
When I froze, he stopped too and looked straight at me. “Yah, come back to the real world.” I giggled and went back to car with him. On the way home we drank our coffee and ate cake slices. Ugh, that manipulative b*tch I swear, I want to slap her. She’s more villainous than the actual villain. That soft-spoken, fake-sweet kind of evil? The kind that ruins lives with a smile and still pretends to be the victim. Terrifying.
Oh, after tangerines... is this lime? I can’t stop crying. Why is it so heartbreakingly beautiful? I don’t care about reality or if she’s lost her mind, as long as they’re together. Even if it’s only in her imagination.
