I want to start this series and all the others that are tied to it (all the elements, I guess), but I noticed the other three series have lesbian romance in the tags, but this one doesn't. So is this the only one that does not have a romance between the two leads? Is it like a female version of a bromance or something?
To all the BL Webtoon readers out there.... doesn't this premise remind you exactly of the manhwa BJ Alex? It's almost exactly the same. I know this series is based off of a Thai BL novel, but I can't help but wonder what came first- the KBL Webtoon BJ Alex or the Thai BL novel Peach Lover. Either way, I strongly suspect one took inspiration from the other.
dropped the first season after EP4,now I have to watch first season for this...
Seems you might not be a fan of the first couple, which is fine. Maybe try to stick with the show longer so you can get to know the second couple, which it seems the majority of the fandom prefers them (including me, hehe.)
The million dollar question of the millennium is that whether I wait for all the episodes to be out (to save myself…
I'm having the same conflicting feelings because I'm okay with waiting for a show to fully come out so I can binge-watch it, but we're talking a 24-week-long wait..... That is 5 months of having to avoid spoilers and fill in the void with other shows in the meantime. I don't know if I'm strong enough to do that.... but I don't know if I'm strong enough to watch 1 episode and wait a week to see what happens next either. AHHHHH!
I didn't look at the cast list at all, just straight up started watching the show, and imagine my shock when I see THE Dai Nakai's face in the first scene of the salon. I was like "HEY WHOA, IS THAT WHO I THINK IT IS?" May have slightly overreacted but that's my booooyyyyy.
This won't make you feel any better, unfortunately, but the writer and director's other famous BL series has a sad ending (or bittersweet, at the least.) So that means one of two things- either sad endings is their trademark and it's gonna be expected from all their series, OR since their last BL series had a sad ending, they'll show us mercy and give this one a happy ending. But that's just a theory. :P
I’m addicted to this show, but this ending is so rushed. I watched it with my mom and she was confused by all…
Lowkey cool that you watched this with your mom because I can't even begin to imagine explaining what the Omegaverse is to my mom, let alone watching a whole show about it with her. LOL
Do you guys think I need to watch the first season to watch this one?
Personally, I think you should just so you're able to enjoy this season more. Knowing how screenwriters are with sequels/spin-offs, there will definitely be jokes and references made back to the original series for the fans to enjoy- you know, like an "OMG I GET IT HAHA" kind of moment. There is also potential for spoilers since it's confirmed Boston will be in this series.
And to add onto that, there might be other characters from the original story that will be making an appearance but GMMTV might be keeping them a secret. Boston's character from Only Friends is INFAMOUS, so I can see them using him specifically in the trailer to get more people to watch this spin-off, then they surprise us all with other characters from the original as new episodes air. Not to give away too much from the original Only Friends, but some things in the end were not entirely resolved and I can see this spin-off giving those characters a chance to sort things out as a little treat for the fans.
So to summon it up- don't watch the original Only Friends if you don't care about the spoilers, inside jokes, and potential resolution of some characters that might be in this spin-off. If you do care, and if you want to watch a very funny and messy group of characters stumble their way through life, watch the original Only Friends.
This show isn't bad, but the story is way too complex to fit into 8 spisodes that are 45 minutes long, and the worst part is we are wasting so much time on things that don't matter at all. Like y'all, we're dealing with seeing the future, multiple timelines and universes, murder mystery, gangsters, betrayal, death, etc. 6 hours is hardly enough to flesh all of that out, and yet this show is still using those precious hours to show us Tonkla begging for it raw every other damn episode. Like please, can we use our time more wisely?
And like, don't get me wrong- the actual story so far is incredibly interesting. I personally sometimes struggle with keeping up with these kinds of shows, but thanks to comments and reddit threads, I have actually been doing a really good job at keeping up with everything that's going on. And the more I read and watch, the more excited I get to see what happens next. The issue, like with many thai BLs, is not the story itself- it is always the half-assed execution.
I think this project could've done amazing things, it could've changed the BL world for the better. After watching shows that deal with these same sort of supernatural and mystery tropes, like Triage and Manner of Death and My Stand-In... unfortunately, 4 Minutes just isn't up to par. The writing process, the acting, the chemistry, the attention to detail... this show isn't excelling in any particular area, it's all just okay and was thrown together to make just an okay show.
But you know what? This is just my opinion, which could obviously change since there are still three episodes left. That is why I'm not leaving an official review yet, but a wary and critical comment. And while I don't think a well-executed plot twist or fantastic ending makes up for a meh journey, I just want to be able to give this show some credit for doing something innovative or better than other shows. Please, just GIVE ME SOMETHING TO CHEER FOR.
