After all these years of watching myself (10 years now), I still can't comprehend why the writing of these extremely expensive Chinese dramas often sucks or is so unsatisfying. Some American TV writers would sell their soul to get the chance to write for such a big budget show...
So much effort gets put into these shows... one would think production could wait till the writers have absolutely perfectionated every plotline and scene.
The subtitles provided by Hunan TV are so bad, it almost completely ruins the fun of watching (the translations are overly long and so bad you have to guess the meaning a lot).
Is there a better source for the subtitle files somewhere??????????
The only reason I didn't drop this was the two main leads. But OMG the writing was so horrible. And no NOT talking about the FL action (because if you think about it it's understandable, even though it was frustrating.) Just the scene writing. Has there anything every been written so draggy ?! It was torture! And the comedic parts didn't work for me most of the time. A drama shouldn't be so melodramatic and then get silly and not take itself seriously. Just wasn't consistent. But I hope to see the main leads again soon. If this is Lu Yu Xiao's breakthrough then I am happy with the hype.
