the best historical c-drama of the year
I can say this is the best chinese historical drama of the year! One of my top 3 historical drama of all time. Very well executed directing, wonderful acting by all actors&actress, perfect and well-written storyline and the chemistry is over flowing! I love how the female and male leads are balance, they had their own strength and weakness. I feel overwhelmed by finished the whole episodes. No boring episode. One thing I hate is only about Wei Liang ☹️ Good job Team! Was this review helpful to you?
A Complete Drama.
Honestly, I didn't have high expectations for this drama before it aired. Many people doubted it, especially after the lead actor was replaced. When the first episode was released, the ratings weren't impressive. However, after two episodes, amidst the saturated Korean drama market, this show suddenly became the talk of the town. People eagerly awaited Saturdays and Sundays for new episodes. Here are some highlights:1. The storyline is solid and engaging, blending historical context with fantasy and time-travel elements without distorting facts. The research team did an excellent job.
2. The genre blend of historical, time-travel, survival, cooking, romance, and comedy is captivating.
3. The food theme is well-researched and presented attractively.
4. The acting is outstanding, evoking emotions and making the story believable.
5. The chemistry between the leads is phenomenal, conveying emotions without needing words.
6. The direction is beautiful, and the plot is effective.
7. The editing is creative, engaging, and makes even eating scenes exciting.
8. The OST is exceptional, ALL songs perfectly complement the drama. The best OST in the past 5years.
If I have one criticism, it's that the episode count is too short, leaving some parts feeling rushed. Given the source novel's detailed storyline, it's clear the episode count limited the pacing.
This drama isn't a typical award-winning show with flawless technical aspects. Instead, it's a well-rounded, entertaining drama that fulfills its purpose – to engage and delight the audience. Kudos to "Bon Appetit Your Majesty" for bringing joy to viewers! It's been a while since I've enjoyed a K-drama this much.

One of the Best Chinese Historical Drama
I'll write the same review for both parts 1 and 2. Honestly, I'm not used to writing drama reviews, but I'll spend my time and energy to spread positive reviews and appreciate good work.First, the storyline. The episodes are long, but it's because the journey is too. We get to see Shao Shang's growth from a child to a woman, understanding her perspective, reasons, and actions.
Every character in this drama has beautiful development, and it shows. There's no forced plot, and the storyline flows well. I'm impressed by Shao Shang's journey in finding love. Her search for true love teaches her many things and is the main factor in her growth into a mature woman. And Ling Buyi's story doesn't just stop at revenge; we see how he lives after achieving it. The supporting characters, including the prince's children, friends, and family, are all well-written.
The actors have excellent acting skills, with the leads (Wu Lei and Zhao Lusi) standing out. Their chemistry is remarkable.
The direction is also great, with a well-paced storyline, beautiful cinematography, and excellent set design.
There are many things I want to say, but this is all that comes to mind for now.
