Exactly Li tried to instigate rebellion and dethrone the present king same as Wei Yan dethroned the previous one . Rules must be the same for everyone . Also I have one qualm- Well in all his actions we could see Wei Yan did care for Xie Zheng and did protect the entire clan from extermination somehow at last as he realised he was set up by forcing abdication, as a viewer certainly felt conflicted with regard to Wei Yan getting punished as it was the Emperor who was responsible for using everyone as a pawn , responsible for killing and Xie Zheng not even feeling conflicted about all of it , though you can say rules have to be followed . He did say those words when he was drunk for treason i guess that's where the whole fault lies.

Exactly everyone is like a pawn in his plan . He can set everyone and has a way out for every problem. He is one of the most interesting characters out there.

On rewatching I could finally see that Xie Wei fell for her in the starting episodes. It is very subtle in his expression, mostly in his actions , sometimes warning her not to get involved in court disputes as it might be dangerous, then after the ruyi jade incident, it starts to become more obvious like when she asks why someone would try to frame her in that and she is just making sense of all his actions he looks so captivated and is unable to complete the sentence that like even she has mediocre intelligence but......the sentence says it all....The thing is sometimes the camera cuts these scenes in between and hence we are unable to see the expressions sometimes. And the plus point is this drama has a an understandable political plot

Yes exactly and why would Xie zheng hate his uncle who brought him up with such care? He was attacked by Wei Xuan in the beginning ...they should have just cleared up this ? I agree he is the biggest victim.

What was the final revelation? Can you spoil it?

Exactly , it's not even him attacking in the first episode , it was wei xuan . I haven't seen the last 2 episodes but from what I gather , even if he didn't go to get the provisions he did send his subordinates. So how is that supposed to be his fault or that of Wei Qilin? Spoil me with what really happened that he is not willing to reopen it and is even willing to die without communicating to his nephew . It clearly seems that he cares about him.

Same watched till ep 37 can anyone explain why xie zheng has to take revenge from his uncle . Till now it seems that his Uncle do care for him

Yes it is really difficult to discern the motivations behind his actions. I wish he was redeemed in the end and the misunderstandings could have been resolved for that 17 yr old massacre.Hopefully they would explain some parts of it in the later episodes.

Oh okay , got confused for a minute ! but still ,it is conflicting that when Wei Yan was not involved in the tragedy 17 yrs ago why would Xie Zheng take revenge on him ? Isn't it like he lost his only blood relative due to revenge on the wrong person? And also why would WeiYan try to kill all those Like Wei Wilin when he was not involved in that tiger tally thing? What does it really show ?

I am still not able to understand why Wei Yan is the culprit? Real culprit is Tutor Li and the old emperor then right? What an irony that Xie Zheng is the pupil of Tutor Li! Why it was no going back for Wei Yan ? Why can't they all admit to the truth that it was Lord Changxin who did that after that old emperor who died or maybe after he rebelled? What did the letter contain?

The screentime is divided unequally . In 40-45 min episodes It's like we have to wait when the leads would appear for like 4-5 minutes. 😳

Even though I like the drama , I wished that they kept the same attitude of xie zheng like that in front of eunuch in ep 32 and not tamed him down in the series. It was a great scene!

In the novel did Wei Yan and Qi Min die?

Marquis is so much seasoned that he can kill anyone in less than 30 seconds , like the other Shi brother in ep 30 , so he doesn't need big fight sequences😂

So all hopes of having good fight sequence from ML are dashed ? I guess that was the last fight sequence . All the biggest enemies killed by FL atleast they should have given him one good Marquis worthy fight but he just leaves the fight in between when he already knew Lucheng will be at stake and will be difficult to hold onto. But still I love the FL fight sequence .

Will we see one good fight scene from the ML also? At least show a fight Marquis is capable of.

Can someone tell how did changyu know that the real mastermind was suu yuangqin ? Did someone reveal that in the episode to her?
