Exactly what I was looking for in a drama: brainrot comedy and cute romance
This drama is perfect for a mindless, chill watch.
TBH I only started it because of Kang Tae Oh, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.
I was looking for lots of cute romantic scenes with a good dose of comedy, and that's exactly what I got.
One thing I appreciated is that the drama rarely deviated from the main story about the lead couple. Even though both characters had their fair share of development, each episode always had their relationship progress and grow. There was no distracting secondary storyline that I always find super annoying.
The second lead couple was... ok. I didn't really get invested in them, but that wasn't the point of the drama anyway. Personally, I was glad that we did not get too much of them, bc I really enjoyed watching the FL and ML get together.
Another really great thing about this drama is that once the couple gets together in Ep. 5, they don't really break up. They have some conflicts, but we see a really healthy relationship work through issues and stay together.
Coming to the acting, I thought the female lead did a great job. She was really convincing as the fiery researcher with a quick temper. But I thought the actress really shone during her emotional scenes, especially regarding her ex. Very well done.
Kang Tae Oh also did really well. His character initially seemed like your classic tsundre type of stoic boss. But basically from the second episode onwards, he brought out subtle expressions and movements that showed us the character and what makes him unique. Also great.
For a drama so focused on the leads' relationship, I was super surprised that there was so little PDA. There were maybe 3-4 kisses in the entire 12 episodes, but the chemistry between the actors was still crazy. I could definitely see how much they cared for each other, and in the second half, their yearning for each other. But if you're looking for a steamy makeout session, this is not the drama for that.
As for the other actors, they were good. Mostly all of them are comedic roles, and they all did their job to make me laugh. The comedy in the show is really great. I would honestly describe the comedy here as brainrot, because it was really just stupidly hilarious. But sometimes that's the best type of comedy. Personally, I love when family members/coworkers are invested in the main relationship as well, and push the leads towards each other, etc. There was a LOT of that in this show, so I was super happy :)
Overall, I'd definitely give this a rewatch when I'm feeling down, because you just can't help but smile during a lot of this show.
