Came to comment of Shaoshang's mother specifically because of all the hate directed to her. I have to admit she…
As a postscript i feel like besides her initial outburst the way the mother is handling Niaoniao's marriage is much better than her usual report. She is surrounding Niaoniao with other men who are interested in her just to allow her to meet more people of different types. She knows that Niaoniao and Yao are poorly matched and would eventually be unhappy in their marriage. The point she made when Niaoniao pointed out that her mother too married into a family where the mother-in-law didnt like her and the sister in law was scheming, was actually a valid one. Nianiao's father gently and at times not so gently always protects his wife against his mother and very clearly reprimanded his sister-in-law as well. He has the capability to protect his wife. Something that Lou Yao does not have yet. Like i mentioned and as his own older brother mentioned Lou Yao is very naive. Again a lovely person but so so immature. The two of them discussing marriage sounds like two children discussing marriage with no real understanding of the matter. This is the only time i found fault with Niaoniaos fathers actions. He should not have been so hasty to discuss the marriage and specially not without asking his wife what she thought. That being said the most unforgivable thing Niaoniaos mother does is compare her to Yangyang. Its a good thing Yangyang is a good girl and genuinely loves Niaoniao. If she was as scheming as her mother Niaoniao would definitely have been in trouble with her mother favouring Yangyang over her. Literally everything else her mother does, while extreme, is forgiveable because she is doing it out of worry and care for her daughter. But this constant comparing in front of Niaoniao is not. Like i said before she is starving an already starving person. As much as Yangyang had a wicked mother and was deprived of motherly love Niaoniao had an absent mother and was told that she had been abandoned her whole life. At least Yangyang had her mother with her. Niaoniao had noone by her side. That thirst is still not quenched as her mother is still withholding all affection under the excuse of discipline.
I’m only 1/2 way through but her first love was the best suited for her.
Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion but i honestly have to disagree. He is a lovely person but she is far too strong for him. He isnt mature enough to be able to handle her strength. She would eventually overwhelm him leading to hi. feeling resentful. In maturity i would say Niaoniao is more mature than he is specially in certain areas. If Lou Yao had been more mature and stronger in personality then yes i would agree that he is a better match because for now i see nothing in common between Niaoniao and Ling Buyi whereas Lou Yao and Niaoniao actually have many common interest etc. However in their current state i do not think Lou Yao is the correct choice for Naioniao. Just sharing my opinion with you 🙏🏼
Came to comment of Shaoshang's mother specifically because of all the hate directed to her. I have to admit she is the hardest character for me to watch (that stupid grandmother being a close second) simply because of her constant self sabotage. She clearly loves Niaoniao so very much. Literally every time she gets mad its for ALL THE RIGHT REASONS. Niaoniao IS wilfull and high spirited and if you dont show a personality like that how to control their wilfull tendencies then they can very easily get in trouble. Even in this modern age a girl with a personality like that is far more vulnerable than a quiet tame girl. Mind you i am not saying it is a bad personality i am saying society is shit and cannot accept girls like that. Let alone now if we consider the era this story is set in a girl like Niaoniao could easily find herself shamed and ruined if she was allowed to behave as she pleased. What if Ling Buyi couldnt be trusted? What if he pretended to help her with the bridge only to expose her later to the families of those girls? The trouble is Niaoniao through no fault of her own cannot see the pitfalls her own behaviour can lead her to specificially in that society. Where her mother goes wrong however is while she has the right intention she approaches it in the ABSOLUTE WORST WAY POSSIBLE. Niaoniao is a 15 year old girl who has been neglected and mocked her whole life. Grown up without the love of her parents. In fact Niaoniao herself phrased it perfectly when she asked "if you had only one bread would you feed it to a starving person or a person who was half full". That's exactly what her mother is doing starving an already starving person "for her own good". Her actions are so cruel towards a young girl who yearns for a mother's love. She treats her like she would her soldiers. The only saving grace at least in my opinion is that she truly wants to save Niaoniao from herself. I cannot excuse her actions nor do i want Niaoniao to forgive and put it all behind her. Niaoniao deserves a proper apology as much as her mother will deserve a second chance to mend her relationship once she realises what she is doing wrong. Im still on episode 17. Would love to see how and if she eventually comes to that realisation.
I’ve learned not to take reviews here seriously. Used to go to dramacool for better reviews. I even check YouTube…
Same lol I made the mistake of reading comments this time. I usually avoid and go to YouTube just like you. Seems like sometimes people come here to mess with the reviews on purpose.
If there’s anything I’ve learnt it’s that just because someone can speak eloquently it doesn’t mean they actually have something of worth to say. The comments in this comment section confirm this to me. I’ve never read a more confused bunch of comments from people posing as feminists while not actually understanding the concept at all. In fact the points they’re trying to make are so contradictory it’s no longer funny. My advice: if you enjoy a slow burn type romance with a deeper storyline that requires a mature understanding then this is the show for you. If not then please go watch something else that will cater to your broken sensibilities. The commenters on here show no understanding of the plot or the effects of trauma on a person, let alone basic sympathy for a fellow human. If this is how they react to a tv character where all thoughts are revealed to us I shudder to think how they would react to a real life situation!!!
