By the way, I felt less butterflies on this series? Might say 4 times only unlike Speed and Love 1000 times. It…
Speed and Love was super angst! A lot of sexual chemistry as well. Whereas this drama is more slice of life, relax cruisy mode. Very different tones between both dramas so not really comparable.
Unpopular opinion - If the 2ML is the real ML and the real ML didn't exist then no one gonna hate the 2ML in comment…
If ZX was the ML, he would have a redemption arc that would placate some of the hate viewers have towards him. But ZX never got to redeem himself, he was just bad the whole way through. That’s the difference.
Yeah I thought Xiguang college friends were ok but now that I'm looking at it Rong was a complete and utter b!tch…
Yep, they annoyed me so much. It was clear that Rong didn’t like NX, yet the friends weren’t even self aware enough to shield her from Rong. I understand it’s an awkward situation to be in when 2 friends in the group aren’t getting along, but it’s so one sided. The friend group is so toxic, so quick to judge NX based on what Rong said.
I finished the show - basically binge-watched it, though I skipped quite a bit.I honestly felt the FL had more…
The lack of chemistry between FL and ML isn’t due to the actors, it’s due to the writing. Like you said, the story focused more on the angst between SML and FL. That’s a script problem, not the actors.
I'm thinking back to how SML gave her interest when she gave him money for the surgery, it's a very ugly thing…
It was later explained that Rong has falsely told SML that FL had been bragging to everyone on campus that she gave him the money so that she could have control over him and get with him. Clearly it was a lie and Rong’s manipulation but he believed it and that’s why he gave her the extra interest.
This goes to show that he always let lies and manipulation influence his view of FL. I think he readily believed these lies because he was looking for an excuse to convince himself not to like her.
After yesterday‘s episodes tantrum and SML getting his just desserts with our girl telling him off, though everyone…
I think everyone is bashing the SML the most compared to the other villains because he has a little more screen time and storyline. Those other people are definitely worse in a typical evil way, whereas SML is bad in an emotional way.
I’m confused on when SML tried his best?? Are we watching the same show? She outright confessed and he said…
She never needed his help and never asked for it. He took it upon himself to do that. Same with the thesis. He does whatever he wants without consulting her at all, that’s half his problem. And doing something nice for someone while at the same time making snide and judgmental remarks at her upbringing doesn’t constitute “doing his best”.
I think he does love himself first, he wanted his career and success first, he thought he deserved NXG to wait…
I somewhat understand his need to get his career going first before committing to FL. But what I don’t understand is his silence. Was he expecting her to just wait forever for someone who she thought didn’t even like her? He could have communicated to her, told her he was interested but just not now. Ask her for time. At least it’s some sort of commitment and she will know that eventually it will happen. But no, he stays silent, judges her for having a rich and easy life, and let her misunderstand that he’s in a relationship with Rong. Then years later, he’s blaming her for “lying” to him? Seriously?? I agree, he’s a nice guy at heart, but he needs to get over his inferiority complex, work on his self esteem and then find someone to love.
I am at ep 3 and don't understand the misunderstanding between FL and SML. They both like each other, and SML…
I’m confused on when SML tried his best?? Are we watching the same show? She outright confessed and he said “sorry” or something to that affect, which implies he doesn’t feel the same way. She sends him a message to clarify his relationship with Rong and he doesn’t bother to even reply to that. He sends mixed signals to the FL, makes judgmental remarks about her and never clarifies his relationship with Rong in front of her or their friendship group. Based on this, the FL thought he was in a relationship with Rong and therefore was trying to suppress her feelings towards him, which just made her feel even more miserable. If anything, she’s trying her best to get over him, and it doesn’t help that he’s just sending her mixed signals ALL THE TIME.
The most frustrating part is that he does like her, but doesn’t think he’s good enough for her and so has this inferiority complex and takes it out on her. He feels that he needs to do something big in his career before he can accept her love, which is fine, but for god sake just communicate that to her. She’s not a mind reader! He treats her like dirt and then expects her to wait until he’s ready to accept her.
I think we have the start and understanding of how the tantrum started: https://x.com/randmpersonjk/status/2008066580333449484?s=46&t=zqI38SPvJuccjplZiNI69Q
I still don’t understand. Do we know why he never replied to that message?? I had just assumed that Rong must have seen it first and deleted it from his phone so he never saw. Kinda like another misunderstanding between them to further show that they were just never fated to be together.
From the other side of the aisle, it is really lovely to see a confident woman step forward to show everyone and…
Thank you so much for all the info! Always great to hear perspectives from a book reader as the books always go into a lot more details on the motivations of characters which is sometimes hard to showcase and translate into film.
I read your comments explaining about how 1/3 of the novel was based on her college days and that would allow enough space to flesh out the FL and SML relationship to better understand why she was so hung up on him for so long afterwards.
I hope the FL take down of Rong happens in the show! Can’t wait for it.
