I think the writer forgot to write something in between, or maybe it is just the case of poor editing (i hope soooo), but the transition between yanyan stubbornly trying to break off with the emperor after her marriage, and her acceptance towards being mingyi’s wife through and through is just mind-blowingly fast it makes my head spin. What, just one time of watching mingyi being bullied by his so called officers, and then you cant wait to forgive all of his past transgression and jump into his bed? So much for trying to convince us of your leads’ one true love (hdr-xyy) in those earlier episodes 😓

First of all, i’m surprised that this is quite a recommended drama (I think i’ve read quite a few people recommended this drama for strong FL on pages such as The Long Ballad etc, thats why i started this in the first place). The plot is all over the place, not convincing, and sometimes even appeared stupid-ish. Not sure what are the writers trying to achieve.
Glaring issues/my issues with this drama: -not sure if it’s just me, but i just cant feel the chemistry between han derang and xiao yanyan, so the first 20episodes are quite a drag for me. I mean, if they still cannot convince me of their love in 20episodes, there must be something wrong somewhere right? I mean, come on, i felt more chemistry between mingyi and xiao yanyan in those 20+ eps, rather than HDR and XYY 😑 -i felt the story regain back my interest after xyy becomes the queen. More things to look forward to -i have issues with HDR’s character. I mean, come on, you preach all over the place regarding trying to replace the system bla3, and your girl becomes someone else’s queen? Bamm no more ambition, suddenly your life agenda is now something not worth pursuing anymore? I am much disappointed in the character. -the king can just be honest to HDR in the first place, rather than go behind hdr, grab his girl, and trying to explain after everything’s already out of the bag and people already feel that you stabbed them in the back? I mean, is that stupid or what?? -and wuguli and xiyin are 2 basically most annoying characters in this series (and basically why i need to write here at this 40ep mark). Time and time again, that stupid xiyin makes the same mistakes and time and time again he was let off. Someone needs to off that stupid boy like Taiping Wang soon or my blood pressure is going thru the roof! Now even liulishou is becoming stupid like him and his mom. Truly, the stupidity must be inherited somehow 🙄😑. And dont mention wuguli. How much more stupid can this girl get my god can someone help me from torturing myself like thisssssssss arghhhhh

I think this is appropriate route to go for that mission. Since that is not a pandemic/mass disaster wherein it’s true that we have to prioritise patients with greater chance of survivor (due to limited human and equipment resources), mika’s mission at that time only involve a few victims, which in real live situation, we will prioritise the more badly injured ones.
But yes, i agree with you on the covid19 cases. We have all had our fair share of making very difficult decision during these times of pandemic 😊
Finished this a few months ago and i must say this is probably the best historical drama for me this year (at this rate. Most of the series i’ve watched so far after TLB is at most ok, some is even quite disappointing)
First time watching Wu Lei as Ashile Sun, i have no expectation of him whatsoever (compared to people who already saw his drama as a young actor) and i must say, he nailed ashile sun so well it’s hard not to fall in love with the character! He’s good looking,loyal to a fault, so sweet and considerate, capable leader, good with children and respect his woman as their own person (who has her own principle and thoughts). He’s everything i can ask for a perfect ML ever!
Changge is a versatile FL. she was naive and playful at first (comes with being a princess), turns revengeful and distrustful in the middle, but she was able to overcome that to see the bigger picture, learn to forgive and actually learn how to trust people again. 👏🏻
And i applaud the scriptwriter for being able to provide such a convincing plot/main drive for the whole series. It annoys me to see a historical drama that sometimes is rooted from just a simple misunderstanding/petty rivalry
The action scenes are superbly well done as well. Notably the fighting scene between ashile sun and ashile shi’er and also the cuju competition at the start! I loveeee those scenes so much!
Costumes are nice enough though a bit repetitive for changge and i must say ashile sun in his tribal get up and hairdo is to die for! His tang hairdo doesnt suit him that much
I’ve repeated the entire series from start to finish a couple of times so far (just like what i did with You’re My Hero) and i guess these 2 series will forever be in my favourite rewatch list of all times
Finished this is about a week and all i can say is, this is basically just a feel-good comedy drama, aimed for light hearted romance without so much a plot. I enjoyed it, just because it doesnt require me to think or feel much while watching.
Pros: -main characters’ costumes are variable and quite pleasant to the eyes -the plot regarding the man and woman’s equality is nice, just not coming to a satisfactory end for me -the support characters i.e the ML and FL’s closest ‘maidservant’ makes it enjoyable to watch -i love that it took quite a lot for ML to start doubting the FL’s love to him (though he still fall to the cliche plot at the end. Lol)
Cons: -the hairdo artist for CQQ should be sacked. I hate her hair from start to finish! They are lucky ZLS is so pretty she can basically carry on being beautiful with just her face and costume because the hairdo is just hideous! -CQQ’s character is sometimes tried to be potrayed as someone who is too naughty and carefree that it comes out as annoying and simply bratty! -not sure why, but i cant seem to like the idea of superior-women-than-men-city-huacheng that much. I find it quite unconvincing esp with not having all cities with the same mindset. -I find zhou zixin’s potrayal as chen chuchu is pretty much the carbon copy of her Qu mei er’s potrayal in The Eternal Love 3. Since i pretty much finished TEL3 a couple of months ago, this just came out as monotonous to me -the worldbuiding can benefit from a little bit of work more
Pros: -the costumes are plenty and soooo beautiful! Both for the females and males -the lovey dovey ML and FL scenes. I love that they portray how the ML is head over heel in love with the FL -you cant completely hate the villain. Lol. They clearly going with a comedy teapot villain instead of just pure bad ones -nongying and gongsun mo’s story
Cons: -not that interested in the side couple (as in li heng and zhu yan) story. Stupid problem which arise from li heng’s fault not to come clear in the first place 🙄 - li heng’s as a villain story. -sometimes the ML is potrayed as too damsel-in-distress for me. Yeah i get that they want to show a strong FL, but please, a tai zi should not be that mellow or he wont even survive in the first place!
All in all, it is a nice story to binge if you just want something light and comedy. Dont expect too much in terms of plot or historical protocol/timeline

No protocol whatsoever. Lots of times, i cant even brain if the writer forgot that she was currently writing an ancient historical drama, instead of modern. Lol
But after I decided to forego that aspect, it was more tolerable. I enjoyed the series for the romance. At first, it was the romance between Junqing and FL that keeps me going. And after the FL went on her own merry way for revenge, I have already invested (after spending so many hours watching the first half, am not going to just easily dropped the drama. Lol. Thats so me).
Came across this drama via mindless search. Watching the first ep, I discovered the ML is quite familiar and found that he is from handsome siblings,so a point to continue on. His acting is good, though im sure some will have issues with him being labelled as god of war with that cute handsome face of his. Lol. The romance between him and FL for first quarter of the story is basically what every fans would love to see (even though YMW’s fringe at first seriously need to go! I prefer when she only has sideway fringe rather than the full fringe). Ye Jun Qing is such a swornworthy character!
Unlike some viewers, I have already accepted from the start that Junqing fell in love for the second time with YMX again (in YMW’s body), so it doesnt disturb me that he ends up with her (though YMW is quite pitiful for not being able to live. Alas, we didnt know her at all actually from the storyline, it was always yao mo xin from the very start)
The storyline is all over the place sometimes, though after reading the comments, now i know it is to be blamed on having to cut the series from 70eps to 36. Despite that, it is still worth watching to the end for me. I even end up rewatching quite a lot of scenes and somes of my favourite almost always involve the scenes where ye jun qing gets hurt and boy, did he get hurt often! Lol. Sometimes, i even laugh on how junqing always end up being a damsel, what with him always getting hurt/stabbed/poisoned etc. 🤣🤣 Nonetheless, being a whore for ML whump, this is just my cup of tea! 🥰🤣
Jun Qing’s bromance with jinyi is a nice touch, as with ben lei. Though I think i must have missed how exactly did jinyi and junqing end up such a buddy in the first place? 🤔🤔
Notable mention of something that i feel the need to get off my chest: -did the emperor wants Jun Qing to die or not??! Make up your mind please! Lol -the most useless prime minister ever in the history of historical drama. How the heck did he got the position being such a wuss?? -Li Fei is such an annoying character, though I guess props to the actress -whats wrong with all the women who love/fancy junqing. Shu Fei has already married the emperor, but still expect junqing to be with her?? At least mo wan has the excuse of being the love of junqing’s life. Lol. Princess Chang Feng is cute at first with her lil puppy love, but end up annoying in the middle when she forces junqing to love her despite knowing all along that she is the one offering to save him and he would never love her, but end up redeeming herself at the end after she ‘wakes up’ from dreaming. Lol
Notable good things: -the action and fighting scenes are quite well done to my opinion. I always love seeing Ye Jun Qing fight scene

The fighting scenes! seems like the choreo is fine, just the execution/speed/the way they film it seems to drag the scene down.
They botched the final scene when Tai Zi fight the 5th prince. Doesnt give the satisfied feeling of victory to me 🤷🏼♀️
