I almost cried a river watching Ep. 3. Salute to casts and crew for such a heartwarming, touching drama, scene after scene. I commend Young Soon's strength and her determination to get her son on his feet once again. The same strength she had starting a new life in a new village right after her husband was killed. Her prayer to be a 'bad mother' once again was heart-wrenching. As heart-wrenching as Kangho's simple answer as to why he doesn't want to eat. I'm rearing to go....as in to see how things will unfold....now i'm really really in a vengeful mode towards Song, that Taeso and his daughter....

up to Ep. 2. I can understand the strictness by which Young Soon raised Kang Ho. Her beloved husband died in the hands of 'powerful' people. So to her she must raised her son to be 'powerful' so that he wouldn't end up like his father who was powerless against these people. She barely had time to grieve over the passing of her husband before she had to move and raise and be strong for their baby. In her timeline or in my grandparents timeline and even in mine, beating a child for a wrong done is done not to abuse but to discipline that child. I can understand Kangho's resentment of her mother though. He wasnt able to have friends, go on outings with his peers because he needed to study all the time for her mother's dream to be fulfilled he thought. However, his mother doesn't want him to be a heartless person i'm sure. I love this drama already because it portrays the reality of parent-child relationship in many a family. Young Soon loves her son but doesn't communicate that well. She communicates this in the only way she knows how. So...up to now......I blame no one. I m merely appreciating because it's mirroring what most Asian family would look like...
