They showed cobwebbed monkey statues on Lishan, that's about it. Maybe back to my original theory that the monkeys were symbols of angry spirits haunting her dreams. We did see her biting her own arm in episode 1.

I think she was genuinely surprised that grandma ended up being the culprit, so there was no way that the lightning and tree branch was part of plan. She is trying to uncover the truth after all, the unpredicted is bound to happen.

Guess we will have to wait and see whether she really disassociated while fighting off those snakes

Outside of Qing Shuang and the monkeys, I think she has been calm and collected while alone or with her maid. Even with those it is hard to tell if they are actual hallucinations or simply her imagination.

I'm starting to suspect that Ye Li might be in full control the whole time? She always seems to switch between cute mode/stab mode at the most convenient time. Got caught trying to murder grandma? I blacked out! Surrounded by dead snakes? "Master Zhu" saved me!

Maybe the common prejudice about women being irrational gave her cover to act erratically without consequence. It also helps that her husband, the one best positioned to notice the act, is deeply in love with her.

Haha I wanted to strangle him so bad in POJ after he massacred the town. If I hadn't seen him first in Dead End it would be nearly impossible to trust him again...

The evil duke claimed that he was the one who destroyed the decree, so I'm not sure. Maybe she was the conduit between him and the late emperor? Either way didn't seem like he was mad at her on the day of his execution, just disappointed she didn't come.

My (super dark) theory is that after the assassins killed all the teachers and students at the academy she was the sole survivor on the mountain. Being unable to bury so many dead the monkeys came and started eating the corpses. Hope I'm wrong...

Yeah he's clearly not a good father, though it is somewhat understandable since the political tension is not yet over. After all the mountain is still blockaded. I do wonder why the FL's mother felt she owed to the ML's brother... That may be her biggest sin or regret.

She's also doing things like chopping down the tree that look very much like someone's dying wish. I have the feeling that the tragic reveal is going to hit us like a ton of bricks...

I totally agree. Ye Ying changed her order to a kidnapping rather than a kill, so clearly she's still redeemable. I liked her interactions with the assassin, so hopefully she will have a nice growth and conversion arc.

Both Tian Ben Chang and his father were taken to the capital and beheaded, no? Only the mother and younger brother were pardoned after 3 years of exile. They did forget about the dead guard, but the Wu family had fallen so likely no one cared.
