I like that they implemented some savage lines into the character's dialogue. I want to list a few of my favorites, but they might be considered spoilers. xD
She is definitely clouded by her judgement because she only focuses on having a home and a family. She is blinded…
For sure, she is savage. We can agree to disagree about whether she’s more manipulative, because he was the one who used her first, and she had to use every tactic in the game to fight back. However, she may eventually become more ruthless because of what will happen to her later. That is her growth and transformation.

Don’t forget, guys, he also used her. He was the mastermind manipulator behind the current situation. He started off by approaching her, seemingly taking an interest in her "case," interrogating her, using words to spite her, and then indirectly helping her—all so she would step into his trap. He baited her and her mother, ready to sacrifice both her and her entire family to save his own. She even said it: "We are both selfish human beings, after all. Have you thought of me when you decided to use my mother against my family?"
From the way he silently panicked when she read him like a book (in the cabin) and exposed his schemes, it seemed like he thought she wouldn’t find out. We don’t actually know whether he knew she wouldn’t be implicated, since she’s off the family’s register. But was he really ready to sacrifice her too? ZHY believed so, which was why she responded with her hairpin (haha), and he seemed pretty butt-hurt about it. I think that moment could have been when he realized how he truly felt about her.
I understand that her mother has a reason and is doing all this to protect her, but what about her dad? No offense,…
As someone who was also abandoned by my parents, I can relate. Even years later, when I reached out to my father, I somehow hoped that maybe he loved me and cared about me. When it comes to your parents, I think some of us want to see the good in them—that maybe they’re not as bad as we thought, even if the signs were there. Maybe that's what they call "blinded by love." She can see through her stepmom, her stepsister, and FYX. But when it comes to her parents, they became her weakness.
The story shows that she is intelligent but still has flaws and can be outplayed. However, that also demonstrates how she will evolve, learn, and push back. That is the process of personal development, ya? It's not that you see through everything right away, but eventually, you do, through life experiences, mistakes, and setbacks. I think the writers want us to witness her transformation. By making her someone who can’t always do everything right or perceive everything clearly, they make her more relatable and allow for meaningful character development.
I feel a bit bothered by episode 13 im almost through with it and while i understand Han yan point of view i just…
She is selfish, for sure. As someone who was abandoned, abused, and neglected since birth, she has every right to be selfish and seek what she never had but should have rightfully been hers. She was definitely starved a lot. That scene where her foster parents were at "World War 17," the first thing that came to her mind was, Let me finish eating my food first before anything else (that scene was great).
She definitely had empathy for her mom, almost to a fault. Maybe something was lost in translation because it seems like she said that if she couldn’t save her mom, she didn’t want to live anymore. To her, her mom is her home; her mom is her purpose. That sentence triggered something in FYX because, at that moment, he realized that he might lose her. Without spoiling too much, he made a decision later that showed, deep down, he didn’t want her to die, even if it meant that he might get into trouble.
She understands that her mom wanted revenge, and she said that she would carry it out for her mom if that was what her mom wanted. But she needs her mom to live because her mom didn’t deserve to die with the rest of the family.
I don't know if she is self-righteous because she is actually morally gray. However, she has her own way of upholding justice. To me, that's her way of preventing herself from becoming the monster she feared she might become one day. She had already taken two lives, even if it was in self-defense.
I understand that her mother has a reason and is doing all this to protect her, but what about her dad? No offense,…
She disliked her family to begin with because the hardships she had to endure throughout her entire 17 years of life were due to her dad believing she was cursed and sending her away. Deep down, she resented her family. But as a child who was neglected and abused, her innocence and morality didn’t entirely fade away. She is lost and doesn’t know what she wants in life, believing that if she can reunite with her family again, she will find purpose. Initially, she believes she wants a home—a place where she belongs. She craves affection and love—something she has never had. Even though deep down she harbors hatred, she wants love more than revenge.
Her intelligence allows her to give her family the benefit of the doubt—that perhaps there is more than meets the eye. She suspects that her dad and stepmom are the culprits. The fact that her dad willingly sent her away and let her suffer, never visiting or sending someone to check on her well-being, suggests that something is amiss. She must have put two and two together and figured out that her dad is not entirely innocent, even if he did send money and desserts. But what did he send? He sent green bean cake—desserts meant for maids. What does that say about him?
When she overheard her mom telling her ex-lover that she didn’t want her daughter involved in all of this, she realized that her mom had a reason for treating her the way she did and believed that her mom really did love her. As someone has mentioned, she innately sensed a stronger bond with her mom than with her dad, because, perhaps deep down inside, human nature teaches us that our instincts are stronger than the practical mind.
does this girl not see how fucking annoying the concubine and her kids are? still she’s trying to save her family’s…
She does see it. That's why she did everything to ruin her brother's future and piss off her stepmom. However, she said that regardless of whether they deserved to die or not, she gives zero f's, but her mom doesn't deserve to die with them. She did all of this to save her mom, not the others. This is what she told FYX. He backed down because she was so determined to save her mom. ^-^
