The romance is super cliche, episode 2 had even more tropes. I had hoped for a more realistic story given the historical background and everything, so I can't help but feel a little disappointed. But the drama is nonetheless very enjoyable, just nothing original storywise when it comes to the romance part.
I didn't expect this drama to have so many typical rom-com tropes. I'm not sure how to feel about this. And the editing felt a little off at times as well.
All in all, the episode was good but nothing exceptional imo. Maybe I set my expectations too high. I hope the next episodes will get better, I really want to like this drama because of its amazing cast and the interesting historical background.
Taxi Driver is certainly losing quite a few viewers to Vincenzo, so I believe the TV ratings will get even higher starting next week once Vincenzo is over!
Oh wow, someone turned him down because he wasn't "man" enough? Unbelievable. Was this in one of his interviews? I think I missed this. I only remember him saying in his latest "My Ugly Duckling" appearance that he gets dumped a lot and that he believes it's his own fault since he was too busy with work while the other party needed more love and affection. TBH if you get into a relationship with an A-list actor, you should know that he won't have time for you 24/7. I don't get how this is his fault, they should have dated a guy with a different job instead.
Indeed. Once you get into an university in Korea, graduating isn't really an issue, getting into the university is the hard part. So he could definitely have graduated, but he decided to follow his passion instead and transferred, which is really remarkable since he couldn't know if his acting career would work out back then.
Haha, I love this talk too! It's been a while since I watched "Traveler" so I don't remember everything clearly, but I still remember that he relied on Ryu Jun Yeol a lot even though he is the older one lol. It tells that he's still living with his parents, he's not that independent. But well, it would be strange if he hadn't any flaws at all haha. And sooner or later he'll have to learn to be independent, it's just a question of time. Though, it would certainly have been easier for him to learn it while still in his twenties. But this is also a cultural difference, it's not uncommon to keep living with your parents in Korea, we had this topic before.
Yes, he was in a hip-hop dancing club in college. Here's him dancing to Michael Jackson during his military service in the police promotional unit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJjZswQQpas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-LtcmOXDOI How I wished I went to college in Korea during that time haha. Those students are so lucky! Oh and one of the background dancers is actor Kim Dong Wook btw. And here he's dancing from minute 10 on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReE_uHzfiLg This is from his "Happy Together" appearance in 2016, during the time he revealed that he had been single for 6 years lol. He got so shy when that idol started to dance alongside him haha. I watched the entire episode btw and she showed so bluntly that she's really into him lol.
So true. I guess he's labeled as "boring" since he has a rather earnest personality and isn't a big jokester. But I personally don't find him boring at all and could listen to him talking for hours haha. His sexy voice contributes to that too lol, but even disregarding his voice, he's a good talker imo, just rather on the serious side.
I agree. I even remember him saying that he's only a high school absolvent (since he dropped out at some point to focus on his acting career) in "Traveler" and I think he didn't mention going to Korea University at all.
Btw, he can even dance! Have you seen clips of him dancing already?
If this is anything close to what Departures or Six Feet Under is, then yeah this is going to be a true masterpiece.…
Indeed, Netflix allows Kdramas more creative freedom and ensures high quality as well. It's a really interesting development and I'm curious how the Kdrama scene will change in the next few years. I just read not long ago that Netflix is investing 500 million dollar in original Korean content this year alone, and I think they already have over 20 original Kdramas in the works/in planning. And the competition, both international and Korean, is also reacting to this. They've all started producing their own original Kdramas too.
Aww, 10 episodes :( But that means that the story is more compact and meaningful. So no room for error. Imo, Netflix…
Yeah, me neither. Good acting is what makes them attractive in my eyes, not their physiques, and I couldn't care less for certain actors who can't act but are still famous thanks to their handsomeness. But good looks and a fit body are of course always a nice bonus haha. And Lee Je Hoon isn't just an excellent actor, everything about him is attractive, his voice, his face, his body. I'm totally smitten haha.

Oh, you're right. Since his character is a previous underground fighter, the rating was probably given due to violence. They might show what happened in the match that made him end up in jail, or he might even get in trouble again later.

Since two of the main cast already have OSTs now, I wonder if Lee Je Hoon will also sing an OST.

Also, how he defended the 19+ rating despite SBS wanting to lower it to 15+. That guy is awesome.
