Its complicated and horrific how it happens in the novel... but MXL has part of Sang Qi's true love's (Ning Xi) aura in her. That is what he recognized when he took MXL away to the dark abyss and trained her as a disciple when young.

It’s revealed later on in the novel why he feels such a strong connection to MXL. And you are correct it’s not bc she is his daughter.

"Big Brother" as FL referenced him in ep 12, is XXC from the future (well to be exact its XXC from this current timeline that goes back in time I think in the novel it was 18 years of age past XXC/25 years of age future XXC) Its quite complicated but know the one person she cared for most in the past was in fact the older (current timeline) future version of XXC, not the younger past version of XXC. That's why it was also correct for them (Sang Qi/MXL) to say in ep 12 it wasn't the past younger version of XXC who was her person. Make Sense? 😂😂😂 BTW why XXC ends up being called “Big Brother” is a funny scene.

✅ Finished ep 11- this is a well-crafted, slower-paced Xianxia drama. Much more of a storytelling drama with actual character development. Enjoying this drama tremendously!👏👏 👏 Haven’t used the fast forward button, BUT confess to using the rewind plenty of times to re-read what’s going on in the subtitles. Cause I feel they are sprinkling clues without us knowing. 🤣

Finished first three episodes, solid drama so far. My takeaway 🎬 is that Vin Zhang can be a hard actor to match for a FL bc he has great comedic timing, expressive non-verbal skills, as well as dramatic/tragic acting chops. I’ve never seen this FL before but she is matching Vin toe-to-toe. Especially with her own comedic timing. 👍👍👍

Poor Yu Bofeng… he never stood a chance. WP plays a really looooooooonnng endgame. While I have the hardest time just figuring out what to cook for dinner 🍽️ !!!
