It's been 24 hours since I saw the latest episode, and I still can't get over that they made LertRan a vers couple!…
I thought the triangle is cute lol maybe Tanwa would realized what he lost after seeing Trin and Victor. Than would chase Trin back? Sounds toxic but I kind of see it.
I think it is only realistic that there will be several layers of the same person...so I am not at all surprised…
How exactly did Victor “put his morals on the back burner for someone who makes him feel special”. He didn’t give up his beliefs for Trin, he cooked for him and worked out ( how does any of that link to his morals). God forbid a young college guy work out and have a crush on someone in school.
I think you are implying too much of ur own opinions and life into this. My dad is 12 years older than my mom, and they are still happily married to this day, together for over 20 years. Maybe ur life experience made u feel different But imo Victor is just having a little crush, it’s normal.
Also, Trin should be the one that make the boundaries or reject him. His character is very straight forward( from his conversation with others), so I’m pretty sure he would reject Victor head on if necessary.
Androgynous is an appearance not a sexuality. It has nothing linked to LGBTQ : It describes a person's appearance or expression of gender that blurs the lines between masculine and feminine.
I am really asking this. Why skip parts of a serie like this? Like for real
See I disagree, " there are alot of different hippies" geesh, and you asked me why I skip the political part of the show when you can't even take the political parts seriously? I hope you at least took some basic history class when you were in high school.
Pond was in an interview 1 month ago asked about what inspired him to start Shine Series project, and he talked about he chose this time period and it was inspired by the 1969 gay liberation movement in New York, so he incorporated western 70s fashion/politics/gay relationships into this show. Hippies in 70s are anti-consumerism/anti-culture/utopian idealism/anti-war groups, they are very complex and interesting character that could have been incorporated into the show through Tanwa. And they miss the mark as of now.

Tbh i went back and rewatched these parts, and honestly I feel like Tanwa is a character that could be deleted off the series and we wont even notice. He doesn't have a lot of participation with the main story line.
The more I learned about the series the more I'm disappointed in Mile’s character and that shine series team didn't have an understanding of what a 70s hippie is like. It made me realize they didn't do their homework for Tanwa character.

Because I was only interested in Mileapo. And when it comes to politics, people honestly have unfortunately different outputs. Which leads to arguments, and that's what I'm not here for.
But to say on a deeper level: I don't think Shine team grasped the essence of a 70s hippies, Hippies are anticonsumerism/anti-culture/utopian idealism/anti-war groups. Mile said in his opinion hippies are “happy druggy do whatever types” which is not true. None of those are portrayed on Tanwa. I said this in another comment and alot of “Mileapo” fans started attacking me
I literally watched the show for one person only and it was Mile, the character he plays seems so versatile and interesting. I was not a fan of Apo/Son/ rest of the cast members. And I even skipped every single part Victor was in on the first 3 episodes. But then episode 4 converted me….like I’m floored by Victor’s incredible acting.
If Victor and Trin aren't endgame, why endgame shaped?
A lot of people said it’s to drive the political aspects of the show more, like make it better, tragedy and heroic trope type? But the thing is I still couldn’t get over how good Victor’s chemistry is with Trin ( I know it’s one sided but like I’m in shock)
Thailand was part of the hippie trail in the 60s and 70s: https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/50n4u5/the_hippie_trail_was_an_overland_journey_taken_by/The…
It is originated from the western standpoint though. Almost all the elements. P’pond explained it in the interview.
I feel the opposite though. I feel that the role of Tanwa was made for Mile. I actually think his acting has improved…
You are absolutely right regarding how the show failed to dig deeper on Trin and Tanwa's relationship. This sucks because when I watch the teaser I legit only liked and was excited about Tanwa's character, there's so many direction and possibility. But as the series go on, Tanwa's character fell flat.
Every time Trin says something, Tanwa just run with the "Just go with the flow". Ok...like...what else? I see how Tanwa is very vulnerable at the end of episode 4 and asked Trin opened his heart out so Trin kissed Tanwa. That seems a bit rushed out.....The beach scene is beautiful though and I do see the vision.
I feel like maybe the screenwriters are not doing a good job with this character outline?? or did they forgot about TanwaTrin and mainly focusing on the second couple??

No. I was focusing on Tanwa as a character and you kept on bring up Mile and his previous acting roles( which doesn't make sense since I'm talking about Tanwa and not Kinnporshe).
Other commenter replied to me saying that this character is "individual" to Mile, like the character is made for him so it's himself. To prove how ridiculous this sounds I replied with ok in my opinion Tanwa isn't charismatic. Is that an issue?

If you watch the official teaser, in the narration it did say that Tanwa is a 70s popular and renowned singer/popstar, that’s his character. And regarding “androgyny” style: it became popular in the 1970s due to the era's focus on individualism, freedom of expression, and challenges to traditional gender norms, amplified by social movements like women's liberation and the Gay Liberation Movement. The emergence of glam rock, disco culture. So how is that me putting Tanwa’s character in a box?
Kris Pond ( shine’s script writer) literally explained why he chose this particular time period and this was the direction he was trying to take. You can watch his interview with beyond borders on YouTube from 1 month ago.
Also you are basically saying Mile is playing himself. His “individual style” in the shine series. That what I’m getting from your point.
Ok then in my opinion he has no star quality, not that good of a singer. A bit obnoxious and rude by episode 4. Trin asked Tawan to meet him at the bar just to tell him “ please don’t come to my workplace again. “ Tawan has zero boundaries nor does Tawan respect other people’s boundaries. Making weird faces and beefing with a student, how does that match up to his 70s renowned popstar character with a wealthy political family background? What? To appear rebellious? Ok I guess that’s what Mile’s like in real life than, my bad.
I think Tanwa is a very challenging character to act out, it truly tests an actor’s hidden charisma. Tanwa’s character is androgynous, mysterious( due to his complicated family background), very promiscuous but not to the point dislike-able, vulnerable, has major pop star qualities. If done incorrectly, it could make this character look obnoxious. I’m not saying Mile isn’t handsome or beautiful, maybe his acting skills needed improvement in this series? Or maybe he doesn’t fit this particular style?
Since Dr. Trin fell in love with Tanwa and it was love at first sight, Tanwa has to have a beautiful androgynous appearance and a very luring/ charismatic personality. Not just “slutty”, spontaneous, or freedom loving.
Tanwa has to be more than that.
Example: the main protagonist in the movie Velvet Goldmine (1998) is very similar to what I imagined Tanwa would be like in terms of personality etc Atsushi Sakurai is also a great one.
I think it's intentional in the series. Victor and Trin seem to be a more fitting pair, being different but like-minded…
Ok now I do see that. Its just I guess this is the first time Ive ever watched a BL drama ( or ML) that's so politically involved and 1969 is such a critical time period…so I guess I overthinked their love relationship.
Opposites attract or something. I also like Trin and Victor more, though not sure about their age gap.
it is possible for someone to become a professor at around 30. Victor’s age would be somewhere around 19-22? Since he's in college. I don't see the age gap to be too unrealistic.
