In Douban, Simon Gong gets most of the praises for being stunningly beautiful and his great acting with soulful…
Well, for me, WKX stands for "Emotions", or his love, desire, hate, enmity, and etc..He does all the things he'd like to and never hesitate or regret. But ZZS stands for "Right things", he always follows his moral principle to do what he thinks it's right and must to do. These two characters grew up in totally different environment. Just like the poems or sentences they read and use, WKX is surrounded by true and free desire while ZZS is brought up learning Chinese traditional moral rules. To be honest, it's really hard for me to believe such two guys can fall in love. It must be the fate that leads them together.

I view this as a very oversimplified version of the situation of xianxia dramas. It is a well thought out article…
For me, Yao are not spirits, they're always natural creatures at the beginning, such as plants and animals, after these non-human natural creatures cultivating for a long time, maybe 500 years or more, they gain the power to form a human body, then they can live like human beings with their special skills. The way they gain the power is the key to decide whether they are good or bad.
Ling are true spirits. Always they don't have any body, they exist or live within weapons or some other stuffs.
It's hard to define Mo though, sometimes they're generated or "born" from bad Qi or evil thoughts, sometimes they are fallen immortals or fallen cultivators, and sometimes they're just given birth by their Mo parents.
