I might not be helpful since I haven’t watched this show but I watched Yanxi multiple times. The ML there is attracted to her from the first time he sees her but denies it bc she’s a maid. He even denies her marriage to his queens brother but frames it that he knows she sly and just wants status. But then marries her himself but says it’s bc he needs to keep her in check 😂 But no lie she’s incredibly incredibly smart and clever and he’s not wrong about that. Her and MingLan the smartest FL I’ve seen. Honestly he loves how smart she is and how she can run laps around everyone, including him. They fit each other perfectly tho and he’s the only one that really knows how she thinks and what she plans. Some ppl like the SML but I think they’re much better suited

Ok I’m on ep 8 and I’m getting annoyed now. Why is it that the main girl, the ONLY female surgeon they’ve introduced, is of course too weak to do surgeries. Nope, she’s doing a nurse aid job and is disrespected every ep. I’m tired of seeing literally every single surgery done by all males

I’d say check out the story of yanxi palace. The female lead is very smart and strong just like MingLan. Story isn’t really focused on Romance tho more on revenge

Yeah I haven’t seen many historical kdramas. The only other one I’ve seen is empress ki and they were mostly inside the palace area.
