Actually, she said that she had to edit/add a lot to the script because the book is so short and they wanted to make a full season so expect some full-on drama. In my opinion, the main reason for TharnType's success is Mew and Gulf, and the amazing chemistry they have. Like obviously the storyline is good at showing that but I actually found TharnType after it had aired because I saw Mew and Gulf on a video and decided to give it a go. However, I had to drop it because the story makes me so uncomfortable. I hope if Mame writes more books, she would not include the sexual assaults and r*apes in the storytelling. Or at least deal with them like you're supposed to, and not romanticize them.
sooo...im a bit fragile in terms of mental health atm. im wondering if this show could be triggering to watch…
Personally, I think it really depends on what triggers you. For me, I haven't been in the best condition with myself lately and I feel like watching this made me even more anxious and emotional (because it is *very* emotional, that's for sure), especially not knowing the ending yet. But as said, these things are very personal so it might be okay for you, there are many heartwarming moments as well.
I watched it without subs and at least Tae Joo said something like "Are you planning to escape without me? We…
He said it was for his dad. He was scared that his dad would be fired because he fought with TaeJoo before and their dads found out and TaeJoo's dad is PilHyun's dad's boss. I think he said something like he wanted to keep an eye on the two of them (so that if there's anything he could use against TaeJoo) to safeguard his dad's post in the company. And him seeing them "kiss" was it.
I have a couple of doubts. Why did Pil hyun tell his father about the non-kiss? In the last scene, was Gook planning…
I watched it without subs and at least Tae Joo said something like "Are you planning to escape without me? We were supposed to do it together". So I figured he was still in Korea.
So you think a BL ending with a high five is similar terrible as a BL where one of the guys dies at the end? Made…
/spoilers about TharnType/ Ahh, finally someone who doesn't really like TharnType but loves MewGulf. I just cannot get over the sexual assault, I don't know how they dealt with it in the book but it was not okay and will never be okay. And some people are trying to justify it by saying that "he enjoyed it". Like no, he was literally paralyzed and had a natural biological reaction. Does not mean he was okay with it. I really don't like it when some Thai dramas (or I guess the novels they are based on) push r*pe or assault has a plot device. And then don't even discuss about it. I couldn't finish TharnType because of it, but I love seeing Mew and Gulf together. /end/
And I loved Where Your Eyes linger. I'm so glad Korea is starting to open up to the LGBTQ+ characters more recently with some gay supporting roles and now this. I just wish they made a full length drama with LGBTQ+ main characters. Where Your Eyes Linger would have definitely had more potential to be a longer drama. When I lived in Korea it seemed that young people were more open to LGBTQ+ but there's definitely a lot of bias there and it really saddens me. For instance, I wasn't really comfortable coming out to my Korean friends although I wasn't really hiding it either.
After seeing today's episode (and the preview), I have a bad feeling this is going to follow the story line of the original manhwa. Which would actually break my heart so bad (I don't even want to think about it to be honest). I've been enjoying the two of them being happy but (maybe because I am so anxious and worried for the future) it doesn't make me satisfied, I just want them to have proper fluff and utter everlasting happiness. However, since they are manhwa characters, will they ever be able to be happy?
This drama completely messes with my heart. How can they end the episode in that kiss? It broke my heart seeing how much they care for each other but how hard they have to fight just to see each other for a moment. He waited for her for 3 weeks! There were so many tears shed in this episode. And I was crying with them. Now we have to wait for another week for the next episode.
I am SO annoyed by Da Heen and her relationship with Oh Je, she basically forced him to date her in front of the…
I couldn't agree more. And unfortunately, it seems to be a pattern in some Asian dramas to make people who appear as gays/bis etc suddenly become straight "when they meet the right person" which promotes the stereotypes and homophobia even more compared to just not having a character who could have been a part of the sexual minorities, in the first place. In addition to all the other infuriating k-drama cliches such as the rich boy poor boy battle setting, and power structures in the school and society...
Some of the characters really make me sick because of the way they act, I really hope this is not an accurate representation of Korean high school (although fortunately it didn't seem that way when I lived in Korea). However, it seems that they tend to use the same kind of plots and characters in every single high school drama and it's starting to get tiring. Don't get me wrong, the acting is great and I'm sure all the actors are delivering their parts as essential for their role but I cannot get over the fact that the script writing seems to be a bit repetitive and unoriginal. I guess we shouldn't expect too much from school dramas. I'm still going to be following the drama till the end and really hope that they will not magically turn Oh Je straight.
Does Jo Bo Ah's character gets better? She annoyed me in the first 4 episodes.
I'm in episode 8(/32) and I still really dislike her. She doesn't seem to have a backbone, giving into bribing a higher-up to get a permanent position and not really acting like "the dream teacher" she says she wants to be. I really hope she gets better because at the moment I'm really annoyed by the character. Her younger self as well, believing a new student over her own boyfriend when she _knew_ he would never do things like that. Not just the pushing of Seho but allegedly telling her "secret" of being poor to the whole class. And it's all because of Seho. I'm appalled that she actually trusts/ trusted him more than Bok Soo.
the scene when he is on a wheelchair and EVERYONE looks at him weirdly and comments and shit. This does not happen…
I have to disagree a bit. I live in Seoul at the moment and the amount of stares people give to anyone that's even remotely different from them, is crazy. And no, it's not because they've never seen things/ people like that before, but I think it's more linked to Korean culture. Especially older people seem to judge, or maybe just be more curious, about people from different backgrounds while young people seem to be more used to it. And I'm talking about people with disabilities, pregnant women, and different nationalities etc, so everyone who is a bit different. And to be completely honest with you, it is very unlikely to see anyone with a disability in public places here. Obviously its a drama so things are more exaggerated but I would say, in general, things like that are more prominent in Korea than other countries I've lived in/ visited.
This has been on my "plan to watch"-list ever since it was announced but I'm a bit scared to start watching it. How does the romance between a human and a robot work? Does he actually have feelings? And obviously, there's no way that they would have a happy future since well, he is a robot. And if it suddenly turns out that the human version gets the feelings transferred to him (note: I still have not started watching it so I have no idea if anything of sorts is happening) it still wouldn't be him, she has fallen in love with. So could someone please tell me, if there is any way that they could have a happy ending, I'm currently watching 2 other melodramas and I really need some nice romance in between.
Episode 7: I cried a bit at the end. Hyun Woo and Young Ju had the prefect date before the misunderstanding. Like it made _me_ feel butterflies in my stomach even though I was only watching it. But the ending... It was so sad. I hate that they can't confess directly, if they could've, we would have avoided this whole mess. I feel very sad right now but the feelings these two are feeling, they look so genuine and deep. I didn't get any of that in season 1, it was just fun and drama, but this... I swear if they don't end up together and actually start dating, I will be ANGRY.
I'm kind of disappointed in today's episode. Like nothing really happened. I need some fluff and happiness. I know it's a build-up but it has been going on for quite some time already. Don't mind me, I'm just suffering here alone.
I can't take this. Why isn't it Wednesday already? Last week was tears and heartbreak (for the characters and for me) so this week better be the fluffiest fluff I've ever seen.
