Okay this was good but to me, to my preference and likings it wasn’t mind blowing. Props to the crew and cast for promoting on variety shows because seeing how good they looked together made me watch this. Also the actor was so interesting to watch on variety shows, usually his characters are serious and plain but he wasn’t like that. I rarely watch the actor’s drama, his acting doesn’t aline to my liking. So I wasn’t interested in watching this. But I’m glad I did. This could have easily have ended with 24 episodes by compressing the unnecessary fill ins. We saw the same thing going on over and over again, that’s call the fill ins. Plot was too slow. It was mostly working, coming home, deal with each other. And put it in repeat. Their stubbornness and pride made them lose time of happiness that by the time they were together I had already been bored and got more interested on the secondary couple. Yes the lead couple when they got together they were super cute but again I wasn’t as excited for them because they got on my nerves because of their stubbornness I was like just tell her you love her! Tell her she Will always be the one! Or I wanted to shake her and be dude are you that oblivious that you don’t see all he does for you! I wanted to pull my hair! And no it wasn’t all bad I love many things on this but I wouldn’t call it master piece. The ML was amazing except his pride. I love this actress and also love her here besides her denseness. Almost cried with her backstory. So said I just kept saying it’s okay. It will be okay. :( Overall for me an okay drama.
(Not my review) Here is the thing with dramas like this they waited 2 years to make season 2 and they trying to milk the cow like with XOXO Kitty. So they don’t give you a conclusive ending like Kitty not picking no one so you have to watch the drama next season (which I’m smarted I ask around if she picked anyone and not watch it hahaha) because they want to see what the audience thinks and how the views are, overall: how much money they made. So the note can be anything from “I killed her.” “I know you killed her or you did something.” To simply amount of money she will give her to work for her. So either they will give you season 3 in another 2 years or they will leave you hanging like they done thousands of times and not give you nothing.
Their love for each other and their reliance on each other only gets stronger They still have a bunch of things…
How the saying goes the books in this case the novels are always better than the movie in this case drama. I didn’t read the novel with that said I’m not as attached as you are with the characters.
Is never mature to marry anyone just because, or to trap someone. If you remember correctly at least in the drama she propose the marriage because she as going to go with the SML to investigate the suicide of her mother and the ML was getting mad and jealous. So her solution was, let’s get married then. Also he had been lying to her about many things including the ex that was never an ex.
Is not mature to ask for a break up and divorce everytime one of them gets mad or jealous.
They could done some growing and knowing each other while dating. No need for a rapid marriage. The moment something went wrong she told him that she regretted rushing into the marriage.
So far till episode 19 I think they are very immature and rushed the marriage. It was all physical attraction and didn’t think much about rushing into things. The guy was a conquest for her, she loved going after him because he ignored her. She didn’t even really know him and that was one of the problems later on. She hasn’t set things right with her mom stuff and in a way is priority. So in a way he didn’t know her either. Always throwing the BU and D words when things aren’t perfect. I hope it gets better after episode 19.

Ooh I agree with your system of rating. That’s why I said to each their own.
Example I give way more 7.5 and 8’s. Meaning I enjoyed it but I’m not satisfied with a few things. Did a have a good ending or open ending? Affects how I rate it too. 9 and 9.5 (which I rarely give) is reserved to dramas that check most my boxes, I love both leading actors, good character development, the plot development is great they don’t leave us guessing or with questions, well written, the chemistry is strong, makes me have reactions like maybe shivers, mad, cry, laugh etc etc, it’s not too fast paced or too slow. If the special effects are good and cinematography is good too. And let’s not forget that the genre and tropes are just right. Did a character died?
10 (I give once in a blue moon.) is all of the above but they throw a good plot twist like I gasp because I didn’t expect it at all.
Ps at the beginning I was satisfied with any drama and gave 9 and 10 like candy on Halloween. I’m a stricter now. I mean I have watch more than 1,300 dramas soo.

I would have rate it a 9 if it wasn’t for that ending. In reality both of them keeping quiet about their identity made no sense. Unless they really know how the people would reacted and kick both out of them of the throne, for treason. But I can’t imagine someone so powerful as an Emperor being control by an assistant like they did here. I mean they made the Emperor look like Shang Xian’s puppet. What SX said had to be listen to. But well besides the ending I like most of the drama.
