Welp. Now what. I just finished it and nothing I watch next is gonna top this, in terms of possessive dark ML's.…
You may have already watched it at this point, but Till the end of the moon. Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi. ML is possessive, dark, madly in love to an obsessive degree etc.
If we go by what a lot of Bai Lu fans say, many of the pairings people want aren't likely to happen. They say…
Yes, I agree. This is why I said she doesn't really strike me as the person who *needs* to be top billed in everything she's in.
But some of her other biggest fans i've interacted with are adamant that this is the case. So I was just relaying what they have said.
I personally think, while being top billed and having female centric dramas is great for her and her career. It would also be seriously limiting to her in terms of what kind of dramas she will be a part of, and what kind of co-stars she'll have, if this were all she did.
But, from my experience, this outcome seems to be what many fans want for her. *shrugs*
When will I be able to see Bai Lu & Yang Yang OR Bai Lu & Zhang Bin Bin OR Bai Lu & Xiao Zhan in a drama? If ever…
If we go by what a lot of Bai Lu fans say, many of the pairings people want aren't likely to happen. They say as her fame has risen, she'll only take female centric dramas where she is top billed from now on. But if we go by that logic, it is unlikely she will ever be paired with another really big actor unless that actor is willing to take second billing. And many of the bigger ones aren't willing to do that. I'm not sure if I subscribe to this logic, because she doesn't strike me as the kind that cares about being top billed in everything, especially if the drama and character is good.
But if true, she will probably only be with newer or rising actors or ones with "less" fame.
If we take YunLu as a guide, 3years later if we are lucky π also there will be no more chance of her and LYX…
The melons for TTEOTM came out about 7 months after Love is Sweet finished airing, and by that November, just a year after LiS, they were filming it. Fans didn't have to wait very long for confirmation. But I think had there been dating rumours about the two, it never would have happened at all.... Which is why I'm unsure about another drama with ZLH.
Whether she and LYX do another one... eh, who knows. I wouldn't be sitting around expecting it. That being said, they have talked about it. And when actors actively talk about stories that they want to do that specifically, it is often because they have already been looking at scripts. They did it at the fan meet for LiS where they talked about wanting a historical with a strong love/hate dynamic. So when they were going into specifics about what they wanted out of a suspense plot together, I couldn't help but wonder.
If she and ZLH start talking about a future collab at that fan thing on the 16th, it might be a good sign for them!
I'd say it's best not to expect anything with either of them (ZLH and LYX) and then nobody will be disappointed. π
I really hope that Bai Lu and Zhang Linghe will collaborate on another project together! I don't care whether…
While not completely out of the question.... I kind of have my doubts about whether she will do another one with Zhang Linghe. Especially because of the dating rumours. I get the sense they would steer clear of it, in case it added more fuel or seemed as though they were playing into it. If they are (or were) dating, I'd be even more hesitant to believe they'd do another one together. Even more so if they have broken up like the melon's now claim. The rumours with Xu Kai were early in her career. They affected her and her career a lot at the time and they mostly happened after the their second drama was underway.
Though YunLu is very popular and very beloved as a CP, there has never been strong rumours about them dating (Just a few little things around Love is Sweet that they did their best to squash. Probably out of fear of what happened with the XK rumours)
So... i'm not sure it will happen, at least anytime soon. But we shall see.
I got into a very interesting discussion earlier who does bailu have the best onscreen chemistry with..There are…
It's got to be Luo Yunxi for me. They've got such natural chemistry. It's actually rare to see chemistry that feels that effortless.
BL always does a great job of selling the romance in her drama's, from what I've seen. A lot more believable than many other actresses. Like, I'm not a big fan of Ren Jialun in general, but I completely fell for that love story in One and Only. It was very well done.
But there's just something about her on-screen dynamic with Luo Yunxi that's particularly special and engaging.
While LYX commands the top resources in Costume, that is not the case wt. modern drama. He is 35, he can only…
It's not really about wanting him to do a rom-com. It's not my preferred genre and I don't need him to do another one (though I'm sure he'd do a great job if that was something he wanted to do) I just want him to have a decent script. And I don't think this was it. This drama had pretty terrible writing all the way through and was only somewhat saved by the actors. (and even that couldn't save it fully for me) I don't think it's unfair to say he deserves better.
Commenting as a non-novel reader. I liked it and thought it was worth the wait. Is it the best of the year for…
I kind of agree with most of this too.
And I thought I was the only one who thought that way about the kiss scenes. Don't get me wrong there were a few shots that were very nice! But overall I did not think they were done that well. For some reason the director chose a lot of the most awkward shots of their kissing. We all know that kissing doesn't always look 100% visually good, but damn the director could have handled that a lot better.
I just finished binge watching this instead of studying for an exam I have on Tuesday... let's pray I have a really…
I somewhat agree. I think overall it was a good drama with some interesting characters and the politics was interesting. But I didn't particularly like the male lead. Not because he was problematic. I actually love problematic characters in general. But though I was interested in him in the beginning he just ended up annoying me by the end. I don't know, tripping your kid because of jealousy was just.... kind of pathetic in my opinion and I had to laugh at it. But not in the way I think we were supposed to laugh at it. I like Zhang Ling He but I also thought he overacted sometimes. The romance never fully hit me even if they had their spicy moments.
Still pretty good overall,
That direction though. Wtf? What is the director thinking? actually awful at times.
I know they're trying their best to make these kisses look romantic with the weird angles and the dreamy filter but they're still bad. I know this is being broadcast on tv and stuff but...it's not just chaste, it barely looks like kissing at all. Touching lips does not make a kiss. He's sort of kissing her sometimes a little (I guess?) and she's just standing like a statue. she's not even kissing him back. How am I supposed to believe it when it looks like they're being forced to do it against their will?
I'm not saying this to hate on the drama as a whole either, but I can't help but laugh and cringe at it.... you got these two attractive people, grown adults, who are supposed to be in love. I don't need a make out, I can be satisfied with chaste, but a reciprocal kiss at the very least, is expected.
Okay, now that we're nearly halfway through the drama. Here are my thoughts. What opinions have changed, and what has stayed the same since my first impressions after the first 6 or 7 episodes.
I still think the script and pacing is kind of mediocre. Sometimes everything flows really well and other times it's messy. It's also pretty cheesy in places, which doesn't fit the tone of the rest of the drama.
But I do think things have improved as it's gone along (especially after the storyline in Lakaya which I didn't like) I think the chemistry has also improved over time. I still don't feel this overwhelming sense of love that's supposed to be there. (please don't hate me for it, those here who love them. I love that you love them!) But I buy it more now than I did in the beginning. And that's purely through the talent of the actors and definitely not the script.
Despite my criticisms, it's obviously got something, because I still haven't dropped it. Maybe it's just curiosity to see where the storyline with her disease goes. Maybe it's just because I want to watch Luo Yunxi and Zhang Ruo Nan's pretty faces some more. I'm probably going to stick around. Unless it takes a real nose dive from here.
(I would also like some more of the medical stuff. I feel like there should be more.)
Itβs come a little too early fast with them liking each other mutually. We just knew FL used to have an crush…
I kind of said the same thing. Too fast and we haven't actually seen enough of a progression or development of feelings for them in their scenes to be where they are yet. It doesn't feel quite natural as a result.
It doesn't actually need to be a full slow burn but a little more development would have been nice.
from what i have seen, she already did have feelings for him, the puppy love-crush, puts him on a pedestal kind.…
I don't think they're supposed to be in love yet either. But in terms of the narrative, we are being told they have feelings for each other and there is an attraction there, and I just don't think this has been shown well in the scenes they've had together.
Even if she had a crush on him a decade earlier - There has to be adequate progression from point A (where the drama starts) to point B ( where they are in episode 6 ) and I don't think the writing has really shown that enough. The chemistry doesn't help matters. I'm not really getting anything from it that would make me believe it.
This isn't a criticism on the acting itself really, they're fine, but it's just isn't there for me at this point.
The pacing of this relationship is weird. We're being told that they already have feelings for each other, but I don't think the progression of that has really been shown very well in the few interactions they've had. And the chemistry isn't really showing it either. I could understand that if it was a bit more of a slow-burn. Then the chemistry might build as their feelings start to build. Instead they have feelings after a few episodes of interactions and no chemistry there to support it. Or not enough chemistry anyway...
If you want a quick build, the chemistry has to be a little bit more intense or sudden.
But some of her other biggest fans i've interacted with are adamant that this is the case. So I was just relaying what they have said.

She cried after the filming of TTEOTM with Luo Yunxi too. She does seem to be a naturally emotional person who gets invested in her characters.
