Rewatch Material
As I was hooked in the first 10 minutes, I already knew that I was in for a treat.
Weak Hero is about a teenager named Yoon Sieun (played by Park Ji-Hoon) that studies constantly yet is dangerous if you mess with him. Park Ji-Hoon plays an exceptional role as Yoon Sieun, portraying his characteristics perfectly. Also, Park Ji-Hoon’s visuals are incredible as Sieun has doe eyes which are sad, emotional, even empty in contrast to his fighting skills.
The first episode shows Sieun and his fellow classmates marking a test that they did previously. The head boy of the class giving out the answers as well shown on the screen. Sieun glanced at his answers and slammed his hand on the table, not impressed. Which took classmates off guard and so did I! Sieun got up of his seat, grabbing a book nearby, walking furious and slammed a book on a classmate, not a random classmate. If you want to know why he did that, watch the show to find out more!
My favourite part out of the 2 series is when Sieun has a meltdown in the corridor in Series 1, episode 8. His acting skills were incredibly emotional as Sieun went through a rough time with his best friend in the hospital. He punched his hand through the window and let it all out. What they all wanted from him. I love this scene so much as it shows the raw acting from him. When I watched this scene for the first time, a tear or two escaped.
Something I didn't like about both of the series is when one of the most beloved characters Ahn Su-Ho (played by Choi Hyun-Wook) was suddenly in a coma by Oh Beom-Seok (Hong Gyuk). I never liked Oh Beom-Seok as he used Sieun & Su-Ho to become popular and overtime I realised that he was a fake friend. I also noticed that Beom-Seok thought he was better than everyone else, that really got on my nerves.
Anyway, one of the most uplifting moments of the whole show was when Eunjang High (a school that the friend group goes to) and The Union which is a gang that Na Baek-Jin (Bae Nara) is included in episode 8 in series 2. They fought in the rain, but that didn't stop them.
When Netflix released a statement about series 2, I was so excited but I just couldn't hide it! Weak Hero is one of my favourite Korean Show of all time, I will never forget this.
To summarise, Weak Hero is the one to watch. From its crazy fight scenes to heartwarming moments. Weak Hero is exceptional, unpredictable and emotional. 5 out of 5, highly recommend watching this.
This does include Series 2 information but a lot of this review rely's on Series 1. I know I'm 4 years late but I watched this series last year for the first time.
