I agree with everything except your point about Chang Huasen's acting. He did a sufficient job for his irrevocably poorly written character. Not an outstanding performance but a decent one.

Li Tongguang didn't even have character development to make up for his generic presentation and characterization. If he had more dimensions instead of just being obsessed with Ruyi, the plot would have been better regardless of the fact that he's just a supporting character. I could basically predict what he was going to do after looking regretful lol.

The quality of this show dropped off near the middle. I ended up watching it out of habit and because I loved that the female lead is an actually strong woman.

They can't handle more critical opinions lol. They only want to read "lies" lol. That's why they are narrow-minded.

With that comparison, it's still a bad ending. It's not about the theme or realism, it's about good writing. And your feelings have no relevance here.
