Incoherent stories and cases that don't make sense
I love both actor and actresses in many of their other movies. So it's definitely not the acting that's the problem. The story is very incoherent and doesn't have proper flow. They seem to be solving random cases that do not connect together with any theme. The FL also seems to have one emotion throughout the movie: Anger and hatred. She even pretends to hate the actor in nearly the entire show despite the fact that she is supposedly smitten with him. Makes zero sense. The ML I believe was trying to match her emotion all the while also smitten with her. The good part is the costuming and setting of the movie was really well done. It seems like a big budget production. But I watch a movie solely on the story and then the acting and unfortunately the story aspect of the movie was lacking. I was able to finish it but with a struggle would not re-watch for sure. Furthermore, there seems to be a lack of chemistry because the mood of the whole story is hostility and anger and revenge. This definitely is not a romance show more leaning towards the detective show with a sprinkle of "romance" that seems less than half baked.Was this review helpful to you?
I tried really hard to finish but could not!!
The story in the beginning was pretty good and caught my attention. I would say episode 1 to 5 was good. Then I dropped it for a while. I came back to it because I really like the actress bai lu. I love so many of her movies but this one was just beyond okay. I could not watch it. I could not even finish it after watching almost 30 episodes. The story just got worse and worse. I think I have two more episodes left and I could not finish it!! The seriously has never happened and I dreafd going back to the last two episodes because I think it's going to be bad! That's near 2 hrs of more of this show I don't know if the ending will be worth it. The show was very draggy and made no sense in many of the episodes. I didn't read the books and I'm not really into the author or the story. I just look at Chinese dramas just because. So maybe if you're into the story of the author etc this may be for you. The costumes look very good and the actors and actress performed well but the story line is just terrible for me.Was this review helpful to you?
Fantastic
This was one of the best moves I've seen in 2025!! Reminds me of love like the Galaxy. The actress and actress really brought forth the best acting to make the film the way it was a success!! The costume also and the little details of the whole scenes. Even the side characters were very interesting and adds a lot to the drama. Their brothership between the soldiers and the main lead. You can feel everything in this movie. Just watching and I'll probably watch it again! Fantastic.Was this review helpful to you?
Beginning was good but later terrible
Usually with romance movies that gets better towards the end, but this is not the case here. This movie was really strange because the female lead was with shao zhen ring, the doctor was a better couple than the one she ended up with. Episode 20-30 was good and the main female lead was doing ok with lei yu zheng. Then episode 30-40 the main characters weren't even talking to one another. He had a mission of trying to find out who put him in jail. The story gets super messy but there was zero romance going on for the majority of the half of the movie. There seems to be zero chemistry between the main leads at the end. This is a very disappointing story in general. And it's way too long and dragged out from episode 30 to 40. I will skip all those episodes and just see episode 41. Even then it's very disappointing!!Was this review helpful to you?
Good and kept me entertained
For the most part, the story was really interesting. I never felt bored watching the movie. I just don't understand how somebody is such a villain in this movie. There's no redeeming character of this villain!! Yan Wen Xiu Is devil incarnate. Only out for herself and could not care less about anybody else.In addition I don't understand how Ni Chang during a competition has time to make desserts and get blamed being for poisoning a Princess. There is no logic in that! Other than dad, it was pretty entertaining and I enjoyed enough. I would recommend it.

It starts to be bad around episode 15
I like the story for the most part. The acting by the main lead actor was really good. It is really bizarre about the romance scene and the word passionate in this movie. Definitely did not add up together. I felt zero passion in this movie and did not want to root for the characters.. I'm not discussing the fact that there was no kissing scenes which was not really that important to begin with because there was no passion to be felt !! I forced myself to finish the last two episode and actually skip the romantic scenes. You know a movie is not that great when you have to skip romantic scenes to get through with them. The end of the movie seem like fillers. Honestly would skip this movie. Probably should have stopped watching it after episode 15. The female lead had some drama with her deceased mother that I could not follow well. It wasn't a significant portion of the movie. Besides that, she wanted to be an architect like her mother. At the end it seemed kind of sloppy that they kind of tried to resolve that on the last episode. I also felt that the tension between the male lead and his father was not resolved either and was brushed aside. Definitely a 5 out of 10 movie.Was this review helpful to you?

The beginning was great then it went downhill
This film is a deeply moving experience that left a lasting impression on me. The story follows a young man who loses his family to a government-run camp—a tragic backstory that sets the stakes for his journey. After being injured while rescuing villagers, he is taken in by a girl whose initial motives for helping him are entirely selfish. To secure housing, the two enter a marriage of convenience, only to find themselves slowly and authentically falling in love. The scene where they finally prove their devotion to one another was incredibly powerful.Another standout moment was the subplot involving the lead's sister; her refusal to abandon her husband after he is called away to assist with earthquake relief was truly stirring. Even the "villains" are nuanced, with understandable motivations that make you empathize with their internal battles.
Unfortunately towards the end the story got "lost" and draggy. I would give it 10 rating for the first few episodes and then 7 for the majority of it. I have 1 more episode left and can't bring myself after a few days to even see it. yikes.

Love it so far! Very addicting
This series is a compelling blend of heart and humor. The acting is top-tier, particularly the portrayal of the female lead’s 'hard edge'—a byproduct of her self-reliant upbringing. The irony of her working tirelessly to provide for a 'wounded stranger' who is secretly a wealthy Duke adds a great layer of charm to the story. Beyond the romance, the warm relationship between the sisters provides a beautiful emotional anchor. It's mid/ potential skip
So far on episode 5 and it's not catching my attention. It keeps on going with flash backs and is hard to follow. I'm kind of bored to be honest. I see the ratings are low. I don't think it's the acting per se but the story line is no good for me. I am considering skipping it. I have seen many young love shows like the classics: hidden love, When I fly towards you, etc. and this is no where near that level. Decided to drop it.Was this review helpful to you?
Terrible everything the script the production
I don't know how anyone can like this film!! The lighting in this film is atrocious. It is super dark and yellow. You could tell it's a low budget film. The script is atrocious as well. The girl is not even funny. She's supposed to be a comedian. No one will believe such a thing!!! I cannot believe any girl will like the guy even if he is good looking. He also has little to say and is not interesting to say the least!! I've been watching 10 episodes and I cannot bear watching anymore. The whole thing I've scrapped after wasting 10 hours of my life!! One of the most atrocious film I've seen in a long time. It's really sad because the actor and actress are very good in many other films ( loved the male lead in memory of encaustic tile- watch that instead what a great story) . Kind of dull and slow
This is a show about 'healing'. The female lead is having insomnia and gets to know her doctor the ML. The show doesn't really hook me and I'm on episode 8. I signed up with iqlyl to watch this show because there was a lot of hype about it. It's definitely a slow moving drama and I don't understand the great ratings. I love the male actor in many movies like the one he is on currently pursuit of Jade. That show is a 10/10 and I am never bored. Yet with this show it's mostly just talk and nothing really happening. The FL was fabulous in forbidden flower. That show I was never this bored. All in all, it's a good show to "kill time" between shows waiting for new episodes of pursuit of jade to drop but this one was one snooze fest for me. I'm struggling to watch the thing and want to speed up the show to 2x. Currently doing 1.5x.Was this review helpful to you?
