In the beginning this show seemed like a train wreck, but I stayed along for the ride and I really enjoyed myself. Still not a fan of Toh. He is still immature when he is with Nuea, but they compliment each other.
At this point in time, I think Eun Hee is me. Her story really resonated with me and I felt for her in saying goodbye to her first love. I felt so angry at how he was trying to use her, but found that she forgave him to be understandable. In that situation being nice was realistic towards someone you had deep and meaningful feelings forward, even though it was one sided.
This show does get off to a slow start, but I believe that is the intent. To illustrate that life isn't the sweet happy ending of a k-drama. I think this is the definition of a slice of life. That not everything will fall into place. At least I hope that is road this will take.
The cinematography does remind me of Korean YouTuber 슛뚜sueddu. Her life seems so simple and minimalistic and sometimes a bit lonely, but she captures her life in a very nice aesthetic way. This has a mix of aesthetic yet a realistic look to the scene. Also, the characters don't have the dewey overly bright look to it, which I love.
I do feel that you have to settle in for this one in order to get all of the nuances that the show offers. Yes it's slow, but I think it will have a good message once it's finished.
A realistic ending yes it was. Some relationships, even if they are soulmates don't last. What was hard for me was the fact that Hee Do got married. It just seemed hard for me, an outsider, to take in. I think the young and compelling love was hard for me to move past. First loves just seem like they should be forever loves. I think if they had added in more of an explanation about their thought process I would have been on board. Thinking about it, I think YeJin became work obsessed and Hee Do was more family oriented and I think it was because of what happened to them in their youth. That would be the only explanation on why they couldn't work. They changed and were no longer the people they originally fell in love with. I would have loved that to be explained in the end.
