"JTBC's response, which was released on July 10 KST, insisted, "The characters, regions, and place names appearing in the drama are all fictitious settings, and [Samir] was not portrayed as a prince of a specific country.""
Of course not. Americans are not so thin skinned and self-conscious of their own identity that they need to review…
I knew I'd start something like this but it had to be said. No, we are not thin-skinned at all. Can you imagine if Americans had complained about Squid Game? We would have been labeled whiners. We watched it and knew who the bad guys were.
Do you remember the Korean series Squid Game? Very popular, right? I thought it was quite interesting.
Well, do you remember the people who funded the game and watched it with face masks on? They were Americans! Really bad and ugly Americans. Did any American take issue with Korean producers using Americans as bad guys? I can't remember if people complained.
All I'm trying to point out is that no race or nationality is exempt from this kind of stereotypical portrayal.
I really like this drama, King The Land. I think Jun Ho is doing an excellent acting job - Yoon Ah is just as well. I'm looking forward to next weekend - So far I give it an 8.6-9/10. I do find the FL's two female friends a bit annoying but really they bring in a bit of crazy comedy. Thankfully the father is opening his eyes to Jun Ho. I understand that it took a lot of work to produce this drama - well it shows.
rewatch, rewatch, and rewatch the end of ep 8!!!
Thank you for your comment.
Did I say Americans were perfect? Not in a long shot.
No nation is perfect. None.
Thank you for responding Shahesta.
