Get rid of Jiang Yunqing early doors!

24 episodes approximately 40 mins each.

The first 16 episodes I thought this was going to be a strong 8 because it was fantastic. Funny, not too much political intrigue and an excellent story. I really liked the Emperor and he had some gravitas for the role he was playing. He was smart, righteous and a real benevolent leader.

Even 20 episodes in I was still thinking this could be around about 4 rating.

Then it became a complete and utter shambles.

I can forgive you for billing it as a romance when the love interests barely have any screen time together when it’s actually more of a bromance drama, I can even probably forgive the terrible production, including the loud music which drowned out the dialogue at times.

But what I can’t forgive is constantly letting the villains off because you want peace but EVERY… SINGLE… TIME…. They go back to plotting and scheming how to kill everybody.

And what were we left with? Most of their friends and families got killed by the end episode war and even Yue Chi just stood there while the fake princess stabbed him and tried to blow everything up.

She was then allowed to just jump off the building to her death and that was that…… hmmm!

The white haired prince then turns around to our hero and says, “actually we are the same and have the same goals. I’m good now and will look after my people.”

Okay dokey then. Sigh!

It ended up being a complete farce and became really unwatchable.

Where is season two?

I’ve just finished watching this in 2025.

31 episodes at 10 minutes each and I was still bored for most of it.

Episode 16 to 18 was a complete mess. Why didn’t our female lead just tell our male lead that it was wheelchair boy who was the big bad villain when she was arrested? Instead, she just screamed that it was all a misunderstanding and she needed to explain.

The writing choices in the show were atrocious. I get it in low budget, but does that mean we can’t have a decent story?

The only good thing out of this was the male lead who definitely has something. I don’t know if it’s the X factor or stage presence but he was the only one I was convinced of that had some level of talent and acting skills.

I knew that by the time we got to episode 29 the ending was gonna be a disaster because there was way too much to be done to cover in 20 minutes of two episodes.

Turns out it was a set up for a second season, but I’m not surprised it hasn’t got one because it was total rubbish.

This is not a romance and quite disappointing despite the happy ending

There are eight episodes under 45 minutes, but it’s still felt like it dragged on.
The female lead can’t stare at people in the eye and the male lead is allergic to touching people. They meet and the female lead literally can’t stand the male lead though he appears indifferent but not nearly as dismissive as her.. anyway they realise they have feelings and end up together. the end.
The problem with this show is they made the female lead act as though she was mentally retarded because she couldn’t stare at people in the eyes. They had her twitching and shaking and hiding. It just looked ridiculous.. though the male lead had his own quirks like carrying around a suitcase with several different shirts to change into, he was generally calm and his demeanour never looked stressed. She had an unrequited crush on the mail leads best friendbecause it was a mistaken identity but I didn’t like the fact that until the last episode is when we saw her actually showing affection towards the male lead. He’d been stepping closer to her every single opportunity for her to actually just be mean and a bit cruel at points. I wasn’t really rooting for her and her redemption, growth appeared to be negligible. The corporate intrigue was a bit flimsy and not well thought out but I suppose that’s what you get for such a short series even though as I said it did seem to drag and I was pleased when it ended.

For a sequel to hidden love it was a lot harder. Watch.

I liked it, but I didn’t love it and I really wanted to.

The cast is fantastic. The story is amazing as it’s essentially a sequel to my favourite hidden Love.. would’ve been nice if it was the same cast however I understand the reasons for the change.

Though it was good, it was excruciatingly slow moving.

At times I was frustrated by her lack of communication, even though I knew the reasons why it was like pulling teeth watching her squirm and not say anything.

I didn’t like her reasons for leaving and breaking the man she loves heart.

The FL mother was a total disgrace and I’m glad they didn’t try and do some weird redemption arc for her after she abandoned her when she was nearly raped by her sister-in-law‘s son. She would have to live with the guilt for the rest of her life and I felt a sense of satisfaction with that.

Why do the FL’s have to be so weak and pathetic at the beginning of these shows?

There are 24 episodes at approximately 10 minutes each of this terrible but watchable drama. The FL is given bullet comments of her life through some supernatural thing and can predict the future and while I absolutely hated her just sitting under the bed while her boyfriend cheated on her. I understand why they did it.. the ML is seeking the truth of his mother‘s death and he’s already suspecting his older brother. The older o son is a cretin and soon gets his comeuppance amongst all of the villains.. even though the FL had quite a character arc in terms of development it was really all a bit meh for me after her weak and pathetic efforts in the first half of this show so the emotional release was not there for me because I’d already checked out.

Meh. Just about watchable I suppose.

There are 24 episodes in approximately 10 minutes each and The FL was a woman who was looking to take revenge on the family for her twin sister’s death and the male lead was a brother in this family looking to uncover the mystery surrounding his families dealings with the Japanese during turbulent times.
Long story short the elder brother was the mastermind who was colluding with the Japanese and dealing opium and he murdered everybody and everyone including family members and the story just made him crazy. After all his dodgy dealings have been uncovered, he ends up shooting himself in the head and our ML and FL literally ride off into the sunset together.

There was no satisfaction, no emotional release and actually the whole thing was a bit stupid. There were plot holes galore and many many loose threads that were never resolved. It really was quite terrible.

What happened to the evil sister?

It is watchable but it really is total nonsense and ridiculous. The male lead was a prince and the FL was a skilled doctor.. they are both being set up and be betrayed by their respective families and have to fight palace in intrigued as well as several other villains before we get our happy ending. There are 24 episodes at 10 minutes each and our heroes are constantly getting beaten tortured, humiliated and nearly murdered at every time. All the villains die with some having remorse by their end, but I still don’t know what happened to the evil sister who threw all the chaos was allowed to escape never to be seen or heard from again while our main couple got their happily ever after.

If you enjoy watching heroes suffer for 90% of the show, this is for you

Not good. The show is poor, but at least it was watchable. The FL is looking to infiltrate the new Dynasty to avenge her families massacre and the ML is a spy from the previous dynasty undercover. They go from enemies to lovers but are constantly on the back foot while the villains plan and scheme relentlessly to torture and murder innocents. What really bothers me with this type of show is the usual nonsense where villains like the adopted daughter who decide to redeem themselves are forgiven for all their crimes and face no accountability and have a happy ending and when the villains do get their comeuppance. It’s usually short and sharp and they die instantly where they’ve made the heroes suffer horrendous agony over a long period of time while they’ve been living in luxury and happiness . This kind of perverse pleasure in watching heroes suffer for 90% is quite disturbing and I don’t understand how Chinese audiences enjoy this kind of thing because there is no emotional satisfaction and the payoff is useless by the end.

Quite a hard watch to begin with, but ultimately quite a gripping tale

I enjoyed most of this 24 episode 10 minute drama because it all came together perfectly by the end. The heartless tyrant, Emperor and the naive silly girl resolve all their misunderstanding satisfactorily after her rebirth.. it was quite gripping how we got there with him killing her by mistake because he was insane and her punishing him after her rebirth with pretty brutal torture. Turns out he was drugged by his evil Mum who appeared late in the show which made him act insane. I enjoyed it most of the political intrigue except the Mum’s appearance near the end, but it all worked out well.

Mostly style over substance

22 episodes at approximately 20 minutes each is exactly my style in speed. What it means is you can’t have too many fillers and you have to get on with the story..
This show is not bad. I really like the cast and the story is a slightly different take on the reincarnation trope.. the female lead is born again into a different character, but three years before but is identical to herself in this timeline if that makes sense. She eventually gets together with the ML in this version and they fought her father the main antagonist who killed her mother and who plans a rebellion but is taken down by our heroeswith the help of the Crown Prince and her former herself from three years ago.. the one thing I will say about the FL is that her former self was a bad character. She actually was a villain and you have to suspend belief to reconcile a change between the two even though they are the same person. Overall it was enjoyable though they ended it with her being the author of this story in modern times and meeting the ML and having love at first sight as it ended. Not too shabby.

Nice story

Admittedly, I have watched a lot of rubbish recently so this was a welcome light relief. There are 20 episodes of 10 minutes each and it is a low budget costume drama. There’s enough political intrigue to keep me mildly entertained and a love triangle that wasn’t too ridiculous.. wouldn’t watch it again most likely and we got a fairly happy ending with the ML and FL together and though the subordinate turns out to be the antagonist he was doing it for revenge for the massacre of his family

Just rubbish

Just rubbish with a terrible ending. Watched the first few episode and was tired of seeing the ML chasing after the pathetic and arrogant FL. Do Chinese people find this kind of stuff and daring because you’re going to see a character development well I got so tired of watching this spoil irritation that I skipped to the end and that looks confusing and totally pointless because he is dead and she had descended into madness

Low budget and low intrigue

12 episodes at approximately 20 minutes each and it was still boring. It wasn’t traumatic, horrific or disturbing but just a bit dull.. the story is about the male lead who is an immortal and got separated from the FL back in the day in tragic circumstances. He finds her again in this idyllic island and they rekindle their love and she slowly regained her memories from her past life throughout the show.. he has some curse put on him that doesn’t allow him to touch or kiss or have any intimate contact with the female lead but they decide to get married overcome a couple of difficulties and live happily ever after. The end.

Quite a nice military medical story

This show isn’t too bad, but I did have trouble scoring it after the disturbing dramas that I’ve recently watched so I was worried I’ve over scored this but I think my score is fair. I’m not gonna get into it too much because it was a few years ago but the FL was excruciatingly annoying and I understand why the story wrote her like that but I didn’t find her redemption or growth particularly compelling all that significant.. there’s 40 episodes of 45 minutes each and even in episode 38 she was still acting petulant and annoying. There are lots of problematic elements but it was worth watching just to pass the time.. easily forgettable

Another diabolical piece of crap

Just total garbage. The people that produce this content sick in the head because honestly when you advertise something as a romance but continue to brutally torture abuse and humiliate the heroes from beginning to end does that go into the realms of a deep seated demented state of mind? Who finds this kind of stuff entertaining? I’m really curious because there was a bit in the middle where the MLNFL had a bit of respite where they were being lovey-dovey but then five seconds later they decided to arrest him on some trumped up murder charge and we had to witness him being brutally tortured in prison for about three episodes. This show did not want to give us a break. It kept trying to give us like romantic moments but immediately was persistent in ensuring the villains were always having the upper hand until about 10 seconds from the end of episode 23.. I find it utterly disgusting and ridiculous that this content is allowed to be produced. I’m not believing any of the hype about censorship or watching a hero perseverance and resilience because they seem to lap it up when it’s time to torture the heroes, but we can’t ever see the villain taking too big of a loss.. it’s all rather disturbing
