What was the purpose of having them break up at the beginning of episode 16? So then a year goes by and everything's magically better? What a waste of a year in KDrama time (lol). She jumps into his arms? FIN
On another note I hate how they styled Kim Young Kwang's hair throughout the show 🤢
I don't know why either. I checked it a few times, but to no avail. At least, I'm getting to watch it. But thanks anyway! :) Also, just out of curiosity, I watched a few minutes of the dubbed version and compared it with the subtitles. They were very different. Yet another reason why dubbed versions should be banned.
For all the drama's imperfections, Lee Jung Eun deserves an award for her performance in this show. And I think the plot deserves some applause for calling attention to some modern problems, like how hard it is to get a job and a fair break, especially when you're older or don't have connections. I was disappointed by the romance/mystery too but maybe the point was for the FLs to come to terms with their not-so-perfect lives. It's a drama about mid-life crisis with a serial killer and a cat, LOL.
I'm fairly certain the person writing the letters to the mayor about her fake identity is the missing Aunt. We…
I'm confident that those letters are about the cleaner intern, not Lim Sun. Ko Won, knowing that Lim Sun is actually Mi-Jin, just assumes the letters are about her.
It's going to come to light that cleaner lady has some secret before the end of the show I'm sure. I'm also pretty sure that it isn't a big town, so the odds of the aunt hiding there for 20+ years while her family, the doctor and probably the killer are searching for her with 0 clues at all is a stretch to me. If the show was based in Seoul, I could see that being more realistic, but the odds are that if she is alive (I think she is as well) she is somewhere far from that town
Oh, you're saying she is 'cold like a cube of ice' with 'dead face expressions'? That’s cute. Guess subtlety and depth are lost on some people. Maybe stick to cartoons if you need exaggerated expressions to get the point.
Watching this series for the 4th time now (It's just that good to me) and I still don't fully understand the relation…
Hi. Hyun Tae is the eldest son so his wife is expected.to serve her in-laws. In traditional Korean culture, the moment a woman marries, he becomes part of the husband's family, meaning, she would have to serve her in-laws, not only her husband and children. That means, she moves in with them in the house (eldest son is not expected to move out as they will be heading the household after his father passed), prepares their meals, cleans the house for them, does whatever her in-laws asks her to, births her children and rears them according to her in-law's wishes, prepares the family events such as the tiring ancestral rites and birthday parties, etc.
In the series, Hyun Tae's Mom knows how hard the role of being a daughter-in-law is, even more so with a husband like Hyun Tae. So in an attempt to break the tradition and of course, to ensure that she would no longer be responsible for Hyun Tae, she introduced a modern and liberal take on their DIL-MIL relationship. That's why it shocked her daughter and husband that she didn't even want her DIL to greet her on her birthday because that's like a very big stretch. DILs are expected to cook and go above and beyond for their in-law's birthdays to show filial piety.
And that also makes Hyunwoo's married life with Hae In manageable in terms of family dynamics as his own Mother isn't bent on the traditional set up. The role reversed as we all saw. It was Hyunwoo who married into the Hongs. Hae In even rarely visited the Baeks before her diagnosis.
