The finale of the 40th episode Moonlight Mystique left the main couple’s fate hanging in the balance. The creators approached the finale in an "artistic" manner—unfortunately a plague in the world of Chinese "xianxia" series—subjecting viewers to a slaughter of supporting characters and leaving the main storyline unresolved and open-ended. Fans had grown weary of the "artistic ambiguity" currently in vogue among directors—a style that forces the audience to guess whether the characters actually survived or if their souls merely united in the afterlife. A wave of criticism erupted online, particularly on platforms like Weibo and Douyin. Fans demanded clear, tangible proof from the studio that Bai Shuo and Fan Yue were together and happy. The extra episode was released as a direct response to audience dissatisfaction, aiming to put an end to speculation and give fans the traditional, indisputable wedding that was missing from the main series but present in the original novel.

Why won't anyone give him a big role in a standard drama? The guy is a great actor and handsome—what's the problem?

I get the impression that an actor's work is somewhat different from that of someone in an office or a shop. To perform for even twenty minutes, you have to put in a lot of preparation time. It’s like a lecture or even a presentation - you might speak for an hour, but you spend a long time, maybe years, gathering the knowledge and materials.

FL’s performance somehow falls short of the rest of the cast. Something didn't quite work there.

9ndramas in one year?! In China film industry actors work like slaves 😱

Someone like a Xi Jinping or Jackie Chan
:D

Because of him, I think that the stereotypical notion that appears in the minds of people from Europe or America when they hear the word "Chinese" will change.

I find it shocking. China scared off by a handsome boy? They could have come up with better accusations, because the amount of makeup in almost all Chinese films in enormous. I even have the impression that its more discreet in new dramas. Besides, even historical theatrical conventions in China have relied on makeup. Beautiful actors are just a promotion for China and something that attracts people to China and chinese culture, abd such tricks rather terrify the rest of the world.
