Both have a darker Gothic feel. Both are fantasy revolving around mystery and plot twists. Both have secret identities, and betrayals that aren't what they seem. Both have beautiful cinematography. And both have beautiful tragic love stories.
It has a similar angst feel. The MLpretends not to love the FL due to something her family member did to his. He also pretends to love someone else, but really truly loves FL. It's also the same actor Lee in both.
Because they both have that same real-life, find yourself theme to them. And they both are directed toward a more mature audience.
