They know that the letters are a problem. NDS ending up with SDM makes zero sense unless the letters were all written with Grandma and they continued to make stuff up. Then NDS isn't really taking credit for anything real. He's just filling the void that SDM didn't know was there. That would have been a better way to play it and I don't know why they didn't. I wish firstly that SDM had ended up with HJP. But if we couldn't have that then my second wish is that the letters were all fake and that HJP had never been interested in SDM and he'd had his own love interest.

I watched everything up to and including episode 11. That's over half the drama. I see what you're doing now. You're saying stuff you don't even believe because you know you can't rely on the facts. Either that or you're so far up yourself that you really aren't capable of processing information that doesn't support what you want to believe. As you probably know, it's not my assumption that HJP grew to like writing the letters. It's what we were shown in the first episode. He starts out not liking it but starts to savour reading her letters and smiles. He wrote his own birthday so I am not inventing that he included real information about himself. He got his birthday wish from the TV and the young actor played it very well. You could see on his face that he was genuinely wishing to play go stop with a family at that point. Why on earth include that detail at all if it was just nonsense? If the point was to show that it was nonsense they did a really poor job. They should have given the younger actor better direction and they shouldn't have showed HJP being touched by SDM's understanding of him in the present. The fact that he was touched made it seem like SDM had guessed correctly. Coupled with the performance of the younger actor that's probably the case. Like I said, you have to dismiss a lot of details to support your claim.

Even my friend who loves NJH and NDS admits that SDM should've been with HJP. She knows she's just biased towards NDS. She said she would've been okay with SDM ending up with HJP as long as NDS got a good ending. Anyone who understands basic principles of constructing a plot knows that the ending makes no sense. I think you're right. They were trying to make this different and it just didn't work.

The letters were not fake but they should have been if the writer just wanted to use them to bring SDM and NDS together. You are the one being selective. My view allows for the fact that HJP told Grandma that they wrote the letters together. Your view has to ignore the fact that we were shown HJP growing to like being SDM's pen-pal in the first episode and in a flashback. We were also shown that he stopped making stuff up with Grandma and that he wrote them on his own with real information about himself. I didn't watch the scene you mentioned but it sounds to me that the writer realised her mistake and tried to undermine the letters but too little too late.

I don't understand it. It doesn't make sense and I don't get what the writers were thinking. They couldn't possibly believe that SDM should've ended up with NDS. But she did. She did end up with NDS. I've seen love triangles play out in so many films/tv shows and I've noticed there are two main types. The first is when it involves multiple important characters. They can be hit and miss. The second is when they involve two important characters and one unimportant one who you know won't get the girl/boy. This drama felt like a combination of both and NDS felt like the less important character. The romantic plot seemed like it was more between HJP and SDM. I mean I did only watch up to episode 11 but I dropped it 'cause I didn't think they were going to succeed in making NDS the better option by that point. I've just had an argument with someone in this comment section about whether or not the letters were fake. The person I'm arguing with obviously knows that for NDS and SDM to make sense the letters have to not be important. He seems to hate HJP as much as we hate NDS but by trying to undermine the letters which were very obviously not all fake he's shown that on some level he understands how stupid this plot is.

The letters were not fake. What he said with his own mouth at the beginning to Grandma contradicted what we shown so we're clearly not meant to take what he said as completely accurate. He was just referring to the first letter and the fact that they made up the identity. The writers and director made too much of the letters if they wanted the audience to not take them seriously.

Oh don't tell me. I couldn't imagine it getting better. That's why I stopped. It just feels so wrong.

I understand why you feel the need to rewrite the story. you obviously know it makes no sense for her to end up with NDS if the letters were real. Well I hate to break it to you but apart from the first letter they were obviously real. Maybe HJP was an annoying busybody to you who just taunted the ML and made the FL uncomfortable, but I've heard KSH has exploded 'cause of this role so I doubt your view is correct. People usually don't like the types of characters you described. The whole drama felt like NDS was getting in the way of HJP not the other way around. This writers must be really bad at understanding how things will come across.

Ugh. I can't focus on anything else 'cause I'm too upset. WHY does it have to be NDS? WHY?

Did I mention how sad and frustrated I feel? What is with this drama?

I got to episode 11 and had to stop. It's too sad and frustrating. I was recommended this by my friend who loved it but she said if I got SLS I shouldn't watch. I got SLS. I should've taken her advice. Even she semi admits HJP would've made more sense. She's a huge NJH fangirl though. She always recommends his stuff to me. This is the first time I actually watched one. But I really don't like NDS and I love love love HJP. Help me. I need another K-drama to watch to get over it. This was my first one so any recommendations would be great. I don't trust my friend's taste. I always have such bad luck with her.
