Hello.. Ive just watched both of the specials and im not sure how to intepret LLWs special.
There are two possibilities - either he is hallucinating/dreaming or it actually happened and he met QS/XL. His dialogue was really confusing?!? Ok so first QS/XL says shes been staying here waiting for him wearing the red marriage robe after he disappeared with her horse for 3 years. He questions her and says 3 years? Then he proceeds to point out the scar behind her ear and she reminds him that it has always been there since she fell onto the rock. Then he says i understand now, i finally understand. You are you and she is she. My XL has been waiting here for me all along.
I really refuse to believe that he was hallucinating.. Because that would mean that he had never really loved QS and just loved the XL that he was together with in the past, in his memories. He distinguishes the XL and QS in his mind because he is unable to accept that 'his' XL has changed and thats why at his very root he still didnt truly believe that QS was XL. was that what they were trying to get across with the special (justifying QSs choice and showing that YWY love for her is more true) ?? I even considered the possibility of XL having an unknown twin sister which was QS whilst she was stashed away or something by LLWs mother. But thats impossible since QS had all the memories of her being together with LLW and it would totally blow the story.
Another way to interpret it is that LLW finally comes to accept the fact that his XL has changed and realised that he also fully loves the new her QS. You are you and she is she - perhaps he has finally let his memories of her take a backseat and appreciates and embraces who she is now (i know its totally opposite the first interpretation). Thats where the scar comes in. At first he had always doubted if she was the real XL because he never 'saw' the scar on her neck. But now that he has finally realised he loves her as she is, he sees her without clouded lens or suspicion. The physical aspect to proving if QS is XL or not doesnt matter anymore because he will still love her. This theory does have a few inconsistencies ie the dialogue doesnt rlly support it. Its a little off and the way LLW acted didnt really convey this (to me at least) But then i remember in one ep that one of the 4 gaurds (the green evil one) specifically looked at QS neck as of to confirm something?? I dont remember if they showed her scar or not.
