Xiang liu drinks her blood to heal so they have a lot of neck biting scenes as well as underwater kiss scenes. Actually xiang liu had more screen time than jing. Xuanzhu is complicated since the story focuses on him a lot on his power struggle and ambition. One can't help but feel bad for him. Xuanzhu technically doesn't have romance scenes with her at the start since he doesn't show that he likes her and even encourages her to marry the "4th ml" but there are some hints in the novel which shows him being jealous for example he felt sad or angry when she gave him something that was made by jing. Twoards the middle he slowly realizes his feelings and tries to do anything to make her stay with him. His attempt to kill jing is probably what ruined all his chances. All xiayao wanted was to spend the rest of her life with her man peacefully who was willing to never leave her and xuanzhu could have done that but his ambition got the best of him.

That drama left me scarred for ages. Especially the ml he traumatized me 💀

The point is xuanzhu had the highest chance to be with xiao yao all he had to do was give up his ambition but some ppl may argue abt this since technically they are cousins sharing the same blood so it would be a bit weird for her to have feelings for him. But one thing for sure is he has feelings for her but he realises it too late only after he lost her. I personally don't like him that much like who would want a man with like 5+ wives? And plus he attempted to kill the one she loves just so he can be with her also lets not foget the fact he assassinated her and his grandfather to get the throne.

OFC. Xiang liu is her soulmate. Although in the novel she doesn't make it obvious but if u read in between the lines you will notice she had loved him even more than jing I suppose. Its just that fate had led to them never being able to be together and she had just accepted that fate while xiang liu had no intention of changing it. He knew the outcome so he silently hid his feelings for her but in my heart ik she knew all along. Tencent uploaded a post which confirmed that xiang liu and xiao yao had love between them.
