No, this is based on the original chinese novel which has 4 books. Our blooming youth only used book 1 as inspiration and didn't follow all 4 books like this one. Sadly this was filmed first but ended up never releasing.

I hope they did this instead but apparently they rlly did change the main character to a female. I haven't read the novel so no clue abt the female detective or how important her role is but I can tell it's not supposed to be fl centric. No idea why they have to use exisiting novels just to change everything and ruin it qhen they can just write a new one. Hopefully it's done well regardless of who the fl is coz the novel synopsis does look interesting and the role of the criminal looks way more intruiging than the main character ngl.

Yeah true but it's obvious zi is going for the serious drama route now. But she herself said she doesn't care abt idol drama or serious drama and she only looks at the script so at the end of the day it would be her decision and I respect it. Ppl can say whatever they want to say. Imo shes still young so she can still film a few more idol dramas before fully transitioning.
