Most liuliangs/traffic actors are child actors/actresses. They get it easier since they've been in the industry longer but yes most of them also had to go through playing minor roles but pretty sure short dramas didn't exist back then, its only recently it became a thing. Ofc graduating from a prestigious university would also help but u need to get admitted first which is a privilege for some. I'm not sure abt the cost for admission but u have to pass the exam I'm sure which is rlly hard so those that graduated from them are respected.

But some of them were given the role because they fit the character descriptions but they were tested about their knowledge on the character before they were given the role. Took many years to find the cast lol since 2014. But then again this drama was an exception coz they wanted it to be perfect. idk abt other dramas. Meteor garden was also auditioned so most of the cast that blew up from that also auditioned probably (ik shenyue did since she said iit herself). Most actors who aren't A listers/liuliangs/traffic actors have to audition tbh but some ppl choose to do short dramas instead of being a support in a long length drama ig. But i do agree some ppl do have backers so they get to be ml in long length dramas despite their lack of acting skills lol but not always the case. Even in auditioning, there will always be someone with better connections/ more popularity who can take the role.
