I believe there are five shards. Those being the ones from the cloud recesses, the goddess statue, the one in that flower garden, xue yang held a piece. I think this may be spoiler but from the last few episodes, I think they said the last shards was held within the sword that wwx found in the turtle. Idk if this is correct tho since none of these were in the novel and I’m pretty sure live action decided to do their own stuff. Most of my knowledge comes from novel canon so it doesn’t really follow the same logic as what live action is doing. I’m sure all your questions will be answered by the time you finish watching but a rewatch would probably be necessary if you wanna catch all the things that you missed lol

Let’s just say he found some material in Burial Mound and made the flute out of it lol. It’s never explicitly told what he did during those 3 months but we know that’s when he built up his demonic cultivation and also where he crafted his flute that allows him to control the dead/puppet.

I finished the series yesterday. Now what do I do with my life?
Read the novel, watch the anime, listen to the audio drama, read the manhua, and also read some fanfics lol. Been in mdzs hell for a year, no regrets.

He held it in his pouch and turned the sword into the Stygian Tiger Metal. While he was falling down the Burial Mound, you can see dark/resentful energy pouring out from a pouch (which I presume is where he kept the sword).

Just watched anime Mdsz season 2 ep 5 and I’m curious at the end of the ep Wy said Jin clan and Gusu lan clan…
Donghua (Chinese anime) is setting things up much more differently than novel (and live action), but yea, with the way that the scene was framed, it almost seemed like Gusu Lan Sect was in on crime. But I think the main theme of the novel is that not every sect/characters remain totally innocent nor guilty of the past. It’s all morally gray stuff, so there isn’t a definite good or bad guy.
But yea, in the novel the Gusu Lan Sect has nothing to do with the needles in Wen Ning’s head— it was all the Jins (and xue yang).

perhaps you're new to chinese dramas?? The action scenes appeared weak and lacking yes but i guess it's because…
Actually, I agree with this. Live action hella nerfed wwx and hella buffed the villains, especially weakass su shi who’s supposed to have a lower spiritual power than wwx. I don’t know how much censorship is involved to make these changes or if it’s just the live action team giving their own spin of the story but yea I think a lot of people had problem with the loss of gray morality. Making wwx extremely innocent and the villains extremely guilty of their crimes. I can actually understand some of your disappointments, and yes, the drama could’ve been so much more better, but like the first reply said, fans are willing to overlook some changes and flaws as long as it follows most of the original source, because you know how most adaptations just love to destroy the og source. And even if the drama changes some aspects of scenes/characters, I can always go back and read the novel lol. This is why I always recommend people to go read the novel. Whilst the drama has some great casts and scenes that they make it their own, the novel fills in so many plot holes and has things that drama couldn’t film due to censorship. Sorry for my attack in the last few posts lol but you know how people get hella defensive over things they love. Sue me :/

Yes, I am a fan. And no, I do not have some bleak view of you because of your judgement, but because of your misconception of this story/characterizations and how it would be better if it pandered more to your taste. I also don’t need to understand your disappointment so don’t waste your breath. And who to say what makes someone fulfilled or not? I may be satisfied with one thing while you’re not, and you may be satisfied with another while I’m not. But just so you know, I had a very low expectation of this drama before it was released because it’s a loose adaptation of a novel that “fulfilled” me, but here I am praising and defending it, not because some of what it “offers” but because of what it gave back to fans like me who loved the novel.

You’re mistaken if you think this drama is about how the main protagonist will suddenly receive some godly power and become invincible/OP being that will kick the villain’s ass. While he does learn some new taboo tricks, the focus isn’t on how he uses it and destroys his opposition, but on what the consequences of him taking this taboo/forbidden path. If you’re waiting for the past to just “end” then you have another thing coming because the past is half the episodes — as in out of the 50 episodes, 30 of them is focused on the past. The past is a crucial storyline and some people even enjoy it better than the present plot. If you watch this drama only for the action scenes (which I admit isn’t all that’s well done no matter how much I love this drama) and cliche “badass” protagonist hero who destroy the villain, then you need to watch something else because this isn’t it. Just because you don’t like this type of story, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t deserve a 9 or whatever. There’s a reason why this series/adaptations have a massive and devoted fan base, flaws and all. But if this isn’t your cuppa tea, then I suggest you just drop it and go watch for a “badass” hero elsewhere.

All it stated in the novel is that his parents died after a night hunting gone wrong. He spent I think around 2 years alone and homeless before Jiang Fengmian found him.

Yea, in the novel, LWJ wasn’t there during wwx’s death because he was healing/resting after being punished with the discipline whip because he defended wwx and fought against his clan elders after the event of the Nightless City Massacre. Drama decided to put the nightless city massacre and wwx’s death at the same time so we never got the cave scene with wwx and LWJ after— where LWJ confessed to wwx but wwx was too out of it to hear him. Literally broke my heart when I read that.
I feel like so much of the villain’s backstory was rushed in the drama that we were never fully able to understand them and appreciate their complexities, especially xue yang and jgy. Fuck Su She and Jin Zixun tho — also special mention to sect leader Yao, the original definition of a clout chaser.
Anyways, though it was never mentioned that Nie Huisang was the big mastermind behind the event from wwx resurrection to jgy’s downfall, both drama and novel (and donghua) heavily implies that he was.

Title The Untamed Spoiler
I just finished this drama and it officially broke me and I don't know what to do with myself now. It was such…
1. The live action never really explained how he got the brand, however, it was revealed in the novel that he got it after learning about wwx’s death, since in the novel, he was never there when wwx died unlike the drama. What happened was that his brother told him that wwx died. He then went to the burial mound to search for wwx’s body but only found a-yuan. Then he bought some emperor’s smile and got drunk. During his drunken state, he branded himself in the same area that wwx was branded. I guess as something that connects to

2. JGY was trying to dig up his mother’s body which is why he was so shocked when it was Nie Mingjue’s corpse instead. I don’t remember this ever being explained in the drama, but in the novel, the Temple used to be the brothel that his mom worked at and where he grew up. He burned it down and rebuilt it as a temple. The goddess statue that we see in the temple is actually supposed to be his mother. His mother who used to be disrespected because she was a prostitute is now being worshipped as a goddess. This is one of the reason why I could never hate him in the novel. He really loved his mother, which was why he always gets triggered whenever he’s called a whore’s son—because they weren’t just disrespecting him, but also his mother.
3. Note that before they arrived in Lotus Pier, in the event before, wwx used himself as bait in order to attract the puppets and he also used modao (demonic cultivation) to lead them to the blood pool. Mo Xuanyu (the body that wwx is inhabiting) also has a pretty weak spiritual constitution so that means that he would get fatigued much easier and faster. Add all these factors together along with the stress of seeing and dealing with Jiang Cheng, it’s not really much of a surprise that he would faint. Like it was stated in the novel, “They were all human. How could a human be tireless? How could they stand forever?” (Chapter 83, https://exiledrebelsscanlations.com/gdc-chapter-84/)

I hope this answered some of your question. Anyone, feel free to add more or make any correction.
Also, I really really really recommend reading the novel because while the drama is really good, they also leave huge plot holes that they never revisit.

Just heard the news about the writer…What a horrible environment to bl-related production!
I think I know which “news” you’re referring to, but rest assured, it’s just groundless rumor which has been debunked a long time ago but is making waves again probably due to the success of cql. The antis really can’t leave the author in peace smh.
