Thank you for putting into words a lot of what I felt watching the drama. I sometimes couldn't understand the huge focus on romance between side characters. For example all the time spent on He Yan's master? Why was it there? Was it there just to make me sad that he died? They gave this couple almost two whole episodes and it still made me feel nothing. For me it was issue with almost all the side characters, they were so weirdly written, and some that should have gotten more screen time didn't get it so in the end all the side characters were just there and I felt nothing for them? Like Yan He's death, he was there and then he died and that was it. Idk compared to other dramas where main leads had deep connections and relationships with others, here it was just bland and lacking. (If He Yan's second squad died I wouldn't care, same with her warriors eight, because we didn't know them, at all). I get that this probably wasn't focus of the story, but it made the world feel uninteresting to me and it could have imo get the focus instead of all these weird side romances.

I hate helpless female leads, and I started to watch this because it was recommended to me after finishing Prisoner of Beauty (idk if you watched that, but it has very smart FL), so I had high standards and expectations for her, I was bit thrown off by the first episode as well, but it was so worth it very fast! I think she improved within few episodes honestly. She was naive, because she was very young, but it's not the annoying kind of naivety and ignorance that was (for me) in ashes of love for example, she is very smart in other aspects and it will be something that you will be able see shortly and will gradually be more and more noticeable. She is very brave, smart and kind. She doesn't need to be saved all the time, but rather tries to solve multiple issues herself. I know where you are coming from, but if you pay attention to the story, you will be able to see this as well. I am writing this while trying to not spoil anything, so can't really tell you examples of the situations.

I don't understand why so many people love this drama. This is my personal opinion, but I found all aspects of it very boring. The romance in here feels so forced to me, the "gaming" part boring as hell with nothing exciting about it. I couldn't even manage to cheer for the team like I usually do with these dramas.
