It is so important to get Power Of Attorney for a partner.
Power of attorney (POA) documents give one or more people the power to act on your behalf.
It is more than just for medical situations. It can also be for real estate. You have no idea how many people have been kicked out of their own homes because their name was not on the lease.
You can set a power of attorney only to take effect if there is some future event that leaves you unable to act on your own behalf because you are mentally incapacitated or have a physical disability.
This is called a springing power of attorney, which takes effect immediately after medical events that leave you incapable of making your own decisions.

That scene in the hospital where no information could be given to a non-relative, just punched me in the gut.
I saw partners thrown out of the hospital by homophobic family members and given no rights to even sit with the patient. In some cases, there was no family member and yet the medical staff would not give our patient information or allowed to make medical decisions.
One friend, a group of us helped stage a distraction, so that my friend could see his partner and be with him.
Those was no protection and no rights given. It was a very dark time in our history.
To all those we have lost…. I wish you had lived long enough to see how far we have come and how we must continue the fight! This is real life!

Theory Of Love was one of my first bl’s in 2020 along with TharnType . So these two series and actors will forever hold a special place in my heart. I don’t necessarily think that each of the series holds up today as well as they did in 2020, as there was quite a bit of toxic behavior and problematic situations. However I have to admit, I rewatch both of them ever so often because I just love the characters!
