I have heard mixed reviews, some as you noted absolutely believe this is top tier and others not so much. Recently a favorite bl reactor (Fabi) expressed he watched a few episodes that he couldn’t get into the characters. A coworker of mine absolutely loved it!
So my gut feeling is that I will be in the middle of both groups and this prompts me to put it on my immediate watch list!
Thanks to both of you for your take on this series!
"We are watching BL, and all that matters in the end is the good guys win. Oh, and that baker and bike mechanic…
I am glad you enjoyed the series and i more often agree with your reactions and assessments, then not. So I am definitely going to give it a watch. When I do , will come back and give my thoughts!
After reading this review, I am very tempted to move both of these to the top of my watch list. I really do enjoy the premise of being able to rewrite your past. What I always find most interesting in stories like these is that when you change one thing, something else inevitably changes too—and you may or may not like the result.
This next comment will definitely age me, but it reminds me of a popular TV series from the 1980s called Fantasy Island. Each week, two guests arrived by plane to the island, where their fantasies became reality. Things rarely turned out the way they initially imagined, but there was usually a satisfying ending—for both the guests and me as a viewer.
I also really enjoyed both of the movies you mentioned. You’re absolutely right—they shared the same premise but had completely different vibes, feelings, and soundtracks.
I still have the Armageddon soundtrack, and every time I hear Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” I’m instantly transported back to memories of that movie.
Thank you for such a compelling review—it truly makes me want to watch both of these series!
“Over the years, a handful of series have landed on two of the three lists. I am the Most Beautiful Count becomes the first to warrant inclusion on all three. Not because the series is brilliant. Rather, because it happens to feature themes that merit inclusion on each list.”
“And that is the aspect that inspired this review. If a series that resonates queer authenticity appeals to you, then Lover Merman will be worth the time to sample. “
This is why this series is worth t time to view! Thank you for such an in depth review. I look far to watching and drawing my own conclusions!
I recently have been sidelined from watching any of my favorite Asian drama entertainment due to life circumstances. I feel so out of sync that I have no idea where to jump back in and watch something that would renew my interest.
After reading this review, I believe this is where I can jump back in. Although it doesn’t seem like it would not be an easy watch it would engage my mind and spirit.
Thank you for this informative and interesting review which has sparked my renewed interest in watching dramas again. I admit I am very intrigued to watch Miles and Apo again! The secondary couple sounds extremely intriguing as well.
Once I watch, I would like to return to add any future commentary.
I feel like it has to do with Phi becoming Prince Phi. Phi thanked him for turning him into Prince Phi and Tam…
I think this exactly what happened. I believe Tam left, so that Phi could get the spotlight as it was probably only one spot, and he gave up his for him.
So my gut feeling is that I will be in the middle of both groups and this prompts me to put it on my immediate watch list!

This is definitely a note 📝 worthy distinction!
You are right of course… it somehow fell off the list!
So let me start a new list TODAY…
I need to add “History 1:My Hero”,” The Shipper”, and @Nobleman Ryo’s Wedding” to my viewing docket!
I have heard such good things about both of these.
