I'm kinda scared this is gonna be pushed back again. It's supposed to be released this month but we've barely…
Picturesque has a YouTube channel for the drama and have been uploading content there regularly, with their most recent upload being earlier today. They’ve also already made an official statement that the drama would be released around late February to early March, so I assume that the trailer with the official air date should be coming out sometime next week or the following week.
As the official release is coming up in February, Picturesque has created a YouTube channel for ‘A Shoulder to Cry On’ and uploaded a cast interview from the premiere last September. Please subscribe to the channel as well as like, comment and share the current and future content uploaded to show your support for the cast and crew.
The members of Omega X won their lawsuit against Spire Entertainment yesterday, which allows them the freedom to suspend their contracts with the company, as well as continue their group activities and scheduling without restrictions from their company. The members revealed that for two years, they have been suffering from trauma due to being psychologically, physically and verbally abused, and sexually assaulted by the CEO of their company.
At the end of their tour in October last year, a fan witnessed Omega X, specifically Jaehan in this video, being verbally and physically abused by the CEO while he was having a panic attack. When the fan uploaded the footage online, public attention and news coverage became so large on a worldwide scale, in which many people were advocating for and demanding that Omega X receive justice. Spire Entertainment attempted to protect the abuser and gaslight the members on multiple occasions, due to her being married to the chairman of the company.
This included threatening the members, cancelling their flights back to Korea and leaving them stranded with no staff in the US. During this time, the members’ parents had to get involved and provide each of the boys with the money to be able to afford to rebook their own flights home, as Spire refused to pay each of them their appropriate salary for their work. The company also took away the members’ access to their social media accounts, as well as prevented them from participating in all of their scheduled activities as artists. Hence why, Picturesque postponed ‘A Shoulder To Cry On’ from its original release of November last year and rescheduled it to be released late February to Early March this year.
If you look up #PROTECTOMEGAX on Twitter, you’ll be able to find information covering the details more in-depth about the case and the mistreatment and abuse the boys were coerced to endure by their company.
Picturesque has posted the following statement on their official Twitter account regarding the miscommunication around the trailer that is currently being spread across various social media platforms:
“A Shoulder to Cry On is scheduled to air simultaneously in Korea and abroad in late February to early March through OTT in each country. The video currently being shared on social media as a trailer is not an official trailer. This is the first story draft for editing the official trailer.
Since this is not an official video, we will inevitably delete threads that shared the video. We hope that fans will also refrain from sharing the video, and delete the thread by yourself if you shared already. Also we ask for your cooperation to ensure that you watch A Shoulder To Cry On through legal platforms.”
Just for clarification, the rumour that the official trailer was leaked is not true. The trailer was posted on KT Alpha’s website, which is one of the official producers/distributors for A Shoulder to Cry On. KT Alpha were also responsible for posting the first teaser photos we got of Yechan and Jaehan as their characters earlier this year.
Picturesque is in the process of hiring a scriptwriter by an official deadline of December 31st, 2022. The production company plans for Yechan and Jaehan to begin filming for a 30-minute side story episode during January 2023, to go along with the already filmed and completed 8 episodes of A Shoulder to Cry On.
As of right now, there is no official news yet on the exact date of release, other than the Viki channel for the drama stating that it is “Coming Soon” to the platform.
Picturesque released an official statement that the drama was originally scheduled to be released this month, but due to the abuse and mistreatment the omega x members have suffered from Spire Entertainment, they will be rescheduling a new release date.
The statement stated that “Jaehan and Yechan, who were both interested in acting, took a serious approach and had a passionate attitude towards this adaptation. This could be seen in the way they constantly communicated with the director and production team with character analysis and opinions based on what they learned studying all night since the first meeting. In addition, even in the midst of their challenging schedule, they were always bright and energetic and generously poured their energy into the project. We the production team, wish to express great regret and sympathy for the recent situation, and we sincerely support and wish for improvements in the treatment of the two actors, Jaehan and Yechan, as well as the Omega X members. Furthermore, we will do our best to discuss the issue with domestic and overseas platforms so that ‘A Shoulder To Cry On’, which has been created with passion and sincerity by many actors and staff, including Jaehan and Yechan, will continue to move forward without stopping”.
I wanted to watch it but the episodes length is 10 minutes, I prefer when an episode lasts at least 40/30 minutes,…
Apparently the korean fans that got to go to the early screening, to watch eps 1-3 in the beginning of September, said that the episodes are going to be 30 minutes in length. So I suggest just waiting for official news, since they haven’t officially released the trailer or details regarding the episodes. I assume we’ll be getting that info pretty soon since one of the actors confirmed the drama is being released this October.
